Summary: It looks like installation is really hit or miss for this game download. I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop that I bought last year (April 2011), running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Intel i7-2630QM chipset, 8 GB RAM, 2GB VRAM, DirectX 11, and I couldn't get the game to work. My first download and install, I would launch the game, get a launch menu, and then nothing. I never even got to the level of patching.
Summary: Saw the reviews about issues with the game working and thought how hard could it be? I have a brand new gaming rig and my direct x (good tip from another reviewer) was up to date. Wrong. After downloading the game it actually installed fairly smooth. Then the problems started. Start the game and the game gets stuck on the main screen. Nothing happening. Ok. After a few exits and restarts I get the automatic patch download prompt and click yes.
Summary: Never got to play it. Between huge download and huge patch and required error fiddling to get patch to patch which led to new set of errors I got fed up. Googling and Amazon customer service no help. My computer specs and abilities just fine. I just couldn't waste any more time on it.....
Summary: I ran into the same errors that everyone else seems to have. Since I had a new machine with a great nVidia video card, lots of RAM and updated drivers, I thought it would run fine. It doesn't even launch. The screen flashed, goes black, flashed again, then I get the Windows 7 generic "LA Noire has stopped responding" and the only option is to close it. No other errors, except some cryptic dll errors in the event log that don't help.
Summary: I've reinstalled the game several times, but still cannot play it. When you try to play the first time, it will attempt to patch the game. The patch always corrupts for me when I try to update the game. I've been trying to get this to work for a few days now, but I'm just going to give up. Get the disc version instead, or buy from Steam. Games run by Windows Live are glitchy more often than not.
Summary: As others have stated, the issue with the game failing to patch is real - and it's impossible to run the game without getting the patch installed. Thankfully there is a fix for this that has worked for me. Credit goes to GamingKnight over on the cheap@ssgamer dot com forums: "Are you getting the error "Error binary patching file FileName LANLauncher.exe" when the 2nd patch is running? The fix was pretty asinine.
Summary: So this game installs just fine but will not start when I launch it. Am running Windows 7 and have a good rig. Did a quick search to see if there was an easy fix and no there is not, at least yet. So why am I writing this review? Well I have to complain somewhere. Why is it that in my classes (I am a college student) if I turn in a blank piece of paper for my final I do not get a good grade?
Summary: Stupid is as stupid does. I totally got wooed by a temporary sale on this game without paying attention to all the past reviews. As of Aug 2014 I too suffered the same problem of being able to install the game with no errors, but not being able to successfully launch it. I am not dummy as far as tech troubleshooting, but despite my best efforts, I failed miserably ever trying to get this game launched.
Summary: We received this in the mail and put the disk into the computer and it did not work. Not only were we out the money but more importantly my son used his own allowance to pay for this.He was so excited only to be let down as it was not able to be played.I have never had a problem with any products before now.We are both really disappointed and never got the change to play it so we could not rate the game itself.
