A Nier Miss

RPGamer
9 June 2010
  • Excerpt: RPGamers, I apologize in advance for what you're about to read. There's a conflict within me right now, between my gamer and game reviewer halves, and all because of Square Enix and Cavia's latest title, Nier . The game reviewer in me is screaming at me to recognize Nier 's numerous flaws, and they are numerous.

Avatar: The Game PC Game Review

Reviewboard Magazine
30 May 2010
  • Conclusion: Avatar: The Game feels like all of the development effort was put into building out the look of Pandora. In 3D, if your TV or monitor can handle it, the world comes to life. Even in standard HD or SD, the lush jungle is inviting and exciting. Take all of that away and you aren’t left with much worth talking about. The gameplay feels like it needs more work. Loose controls, bad melee combat, weak mission design, and a wonky camera dull the experience.

Nier

Hooked Gamers
4 May 2010
  • Conclusion: While trying to be its own original and distinctive game with a combination of different gameplay aspects, Nier seems to derive a lot of these features from various sources. JRPGs, hack and slashes, action adventures and arcade games. There is even a heavy hint to The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time .
  • Pros: Beautifully intricate story, with some fresh ideas and a stunning soundtrack.
  • Cons: Combat needs to be improved, story can get confusing and there may be too much variety for some.

James Cameron's Avatar Review

AtomicGamer
31 December 2009
  • Excerpt: James Cameron's Avatar has to be one of the most-hyped movies in recent memory, and in spite of good reviews, by now most of us are getting sick of the hubbub surrounding it. The film's overexposure hasn't done much to promote gamer enthusiasm for the inevitable video game tie-in, and that means that like a witch in Salem, the game probably can't get a fair trial.

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game Review

AusGamers
4 February 2010
  • Conclusion: This detail can make the console version of the game chug. Pop-in is noticeable, distant Na’vi look like the Blue Men advertising Intel processors, until textures overlay the model when moving closer, frame rates will drop noticeably when enemy numbers rise. The AI of the enemy is questionable, with combatants reacting to fallen colleagues only sometimes.
  • Pros: Presentation and voice acting, Simple, straight forward objectives and action (if you like that kind of thing), Nice variety of location and some ok level design
  • Cons: Tedious mission structure and vacuous objectives: run from one yellow area on the map to the next., Nausea inducing vehicle camera, Awkward controls, Set and forget RPG elements, AI bordering on brain dead, Tacked on Area Control mini-game

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game

bestgamer.ru
4 March 2013

Games Life
21 May 2010
