Jack Keane

Strategy Informer
6 October 2011
  • Conclusion: For all its comical charm, Jack Keane does not quite reach the heights of the games that inspired it.  The storyline does not offer enough to engage the player for the duration, and so the dated gameplay becomes more noticeable than it should be. Whilst some of the annoyances of classic point and click games have been ironed out, others remain and do not stand up well to modern alternatives.

Adventure Classic Gaming

  • Excerpt: Deck13 Interactive's Jack Keane is an adventure game imported from Germany. It is set in the tradition of LucasArts' Monkey Island. Deck13 Interactive is best known for the Ankh series of comedy adventure games, and Jack Keane has much in common with Ankh. As with Ankh, Jack Keane is a very satisfying game with solid production values and writing.

Corny but fun teen adventure game with puzzles.

Common Sense Media
29 November 2008
  • Summary: Parents need to know that this adventure game is rated Teen because it has some suggestive sexual innuendos including comments about kissing, making love, and a woman's breasts. There's also some comic mischief (knocking characters off ledges), a mission to find a bottle of rum, and one character who smokes a cigar. This is a slower paced game that focuses on puzzle-solving and character development. It is also one of those rare games that is actually funny.

Expert Review

Adventure Gamers
3 June 2008
  • Conclusion: These flaws aside, Jack Keane is a lengthy game, light on difficulty, but never anything less than fun. The most common comparison is Monkey Island--perhaps because of the nautical nature of the adventure, the pirate elements, or maybe the abundance of monkeys on the island. But the tone of LucasArts' immortal adventures is significantly darker and sharper than that of Jack Keane, and a much better comparison is to the classic Space Quest games, with the aw-shucks hero,...

Jack Keane

Game Over Online
19 May 2008
  • Excerpt: Jack Keane is the latest adventure from Deck13 Interactive, the German developer who released Ankh in 2006. I really liked Ankh . It was fun and it was witty and it brought back memories of the classic LucasArts adventures. However, Deck13 went one step further with Jack Keane . Not only did they borrow the look and feel of the LucasArts adventures, they pretty much stole the entire premise behind the Monkey Island games.
