Summary: Despite its age still one of best WW2 flight sims you can buy.Great choice of planes and plenty of missions to fly. Also has a great community of on line support and players Can't wait to see what the merger with 777 studios produces.
Summary: I'm totally into the flight simulator genre of games, and have played every one I could my hands on. I heard about IL-2 1946 a while back and thought it sounded pretty cool, but I didn't know if it would play on my current computer setup. After waiting a while the price dropped pretty low and I took the chance and bought it. Installing was fairly tricky and I had to follow some advice on the web, notably about WHERE to install it, but after that it ran like a gem.
Summary: I am a real life pilot who unfortunately must give up flying(financial reasons), and must say that my lifelong obsession to flying is well taken care of with this sim/game! I never was into pc or console games before! IL-2 1946 changed my outlook to pc games, that's for sure! IL-2 1946 not only allows me the feel of real flying (using 3 monitors), but gives the welcomed bonus of combat AND WW2 adventures!...and I hav'nt even played online yet!
Summary: I have no complaints about the game itself. Its a very good simulation and well worth the money. I just wish the version I received had included the bonus features being advertised on the product page!!!
Summary: Well its been years since this series began. As the expansions increase the epicness of the game expands ;). This exapansion adds more playable aircraft and has all the previous expansions. From IL 2 original to pacific fighters. Also adds the 1946 expansion as stated in the name(and on the back of the box) also adding more than just cancelled aircraft or rare ones it adds more late fighters of the era. Aircraft ranging from 44-46(years).
Summary: First, my qualifications: I've got about 3000 hours of real airplane flight time, and I've wasted roughly 10,000 hours of my life playing PC-based flight sims, starting with MS Flight Simulator 1.0 on a green-screen Apple IIe, and playing pretty much everything worth flying between there and Falcon 4.0 on my current multi-GHz Dell. I've played extensively online with several different sims, and aviation has been one of my lifelong passions.
Summary: I purchased this game because I love the WWII warbirds, the dogfights, and carrier operations. This game scores a perfect 10 for all of those and It's mainly why I'm so happy with this game. For all of you who like piloting those old bombers like the B-25, He-111, or dive bombers, you will not be disappointed for this product is king on that detail. The sights and gunnery on the bombers are so complex it took me a while to program a good setup for operating all of it.
