Summary: Everything looked great but it had a "jitter" when flying that couldn't be fixed by me. I have the necessary memory etc. but the worst part was not being able to contact technical help to figure out the problem.
Summary: You really have to spend some time practicing every aspect and memorizing controls before actually flying missions, which will turn a lot of people off. I didn't much like the layout of things.
Summary: The game itself merits 5 stars. The copy protection merits 0 stars. Overall-2 1/2 stars. I bought a legal copy from a famous legit software store here. It installed fine but I couldn't get it to run.
Summary: Whilst a good combat simulator I find the game play to be very slow. I don't play on line and the AI is quite good however there is a long time before you get to the action. CFS2 and FSX/Xplane are far better flying options even without the combat option.
Summary: After MS simulators I found this difficult to set up and control aircraft. there is an issue with windows 7 as I don't think 7 was around when this was first on sale. but you can set the compatibility to XP.
Summary: This flight simulation game requires the player to train to fly aircraft using a joystick or yoke and about 70 combination keyboard controls. It is not for the casual player and requires many hours of practice just to get off the ground.
Summary: IL-2 is a game which is very hard to get into unless you have a serious thing for planes. The controls are, at first glance, difficult, and the lack of instructions and interactive tutorials are enough to put off your average player (it took me about four hours to learn how to drop bombs!).
