Summary: I you like combat flight sims you will love this one. I ordered it years ago and I still play it to this day. I keep one gaming pc with XP still on it to run these older games on. It may run fine on windows 7 I have not tried it. For when it was made it has solid graphics. I run this game using an AMD 975 X4 and EVGA GTX460 2gb video card in a pc running XP. I have not had any issues with the software at all it runs perfect for me..
Summary: IL 2 has had several releases, original, FB,Pacific, etc. 1946 combines them all. When real life permits I've been flying IL2 since it was first published and through all of it's releases and consider it one of the best simulations I've ever known, heck, it's the best PC based game of any I own.
Summary: Bought the new DVD version. Won't load in Vista 32 bit home premium. Have read all of the "help" information on Google, but nothing seems to work. It appears from posts that others are having problems loading it on Windows versions that are newer than XP.

Summary: I run Win7x64 with 4GB RAM, 512MB AMD GPU, and after researching compatability issues and watching several videos on YouTube of it running on a similar system, decided to buy IL2 Sturmovik 1946. It would have been nice to know beforehand that the version to be delivered was the European Region DVD and not the US version. I cannot access the disc at all, though the computer does at least recognize that I have indeed inserted a DVD.
Summary: Owned this since if first came out......more than a decade ago. Still has excellent graphics, great AI and FM. With the mods SAS and UP3 the list of flyable aircraft is extemsive. Full Mission Builder gives you endless play....you will die of old age before you can use up all the possibilities. This was followed by IL2 Cliffs of Dover which was much more of a challenge graphically...and went out the door unfinished.
Summary: Some years ago I had the Original IL-2 Sturmovik but never really had the system for it. Recently I acquired IL-2 Cliffs of Dover and installed that on a new gaming computer system. Visually very nice with good gameplay and active community support. Nice but limited focus. Then I started looking at the much older IL-2 series and the 1946 combo pack. I installed the dvd version then proceeded to install each of the community developed (Daidalos Group) official patches.
