3 Different Disc Formats

Jack Notabartolo, Amazon
7 August 2013
  • Summary: When I ordered this box set, I was expecting that they would all be of the same format, all of them CD roms as they were originally. Needless to say, I was quite dismayed when I found out that two out of the 3 discs were formats that my computer could not support. "Heart of Winter", the expansion for Icewind Dale 1, was the only one that was in PC CD format.

Dissapointed

Claire, Amazon
4 September 2011
  • Summary: This product states it will play on Windows XP but it would not load onto our computer. After many e-mails I am having to send it back (additional cost to me) and it has taken longer then necessary to get to this point. I'm not sure why we are having problems since the product came looking to be in very good condition. Hoping to resolve this issue. I also have bought Trine and Fate and had no problems with those. p.s.

Boring and Tedious

Erik Denning "Bon vivant", Amazon
22 May 2004
  • Summary: Sure, the graphics and sound ARE nice, but this game is very linear and very forgiving- too forgiving. You can save and reload just about constantly, so long as there aren't monsters nearby and things are made kinda dummy-proof so you can't make any significant mistakes. As a result, I never really felt like I was taking much of a chance doing anything.

  • Excerpt: Maybe I’ve been spoiled, as the last two games I’ve played have been the excellent Baldurs Gate (BG) and the even better Planescape: Torment (PS:T). If you’re not already aware, Icewind Dale (IWD) was developed on the same game engine as these two (the Bioware Infinity Engine), and released by the same company, Interplay. The same team didn’t create it though, and in my opinion this shows.

  • Excerpt: I love RPG games, i really do. I think there's something truly wondrous about side-plots more convoluted than an elephants intestines, gathering experience points, and weapons of increasingly preposterous strength. I loved Baldurs Gate, I think it's fair to say it (with a little help from Diablo) saved the RPG genre from a terminal slide into obscurity. I drooled over the 5 cds (5!), that's like 3 whole games worth..! And then Icewind Dale came along.

Icewind Dale: Grosse déception

imrick, Dooyoo
11 May 2011
