Huntsman: The Orphanage Review

13 December 2013
  • Excerpt: Huntsman: The Orphanage prompts many questions. Who is the huntsman? How did 12 orphans vanish without a trace from a rural Illinois orphanage in 1897? For that matter, where can I pick up that sweet smartphone that talks to the dead and never loses a charge? Huntsman doesn't answer all of these questions, but some of its chief pleasures lie in rummaging among old suitcases and piles of dusty prosthetics for clues to the answers.
  • Pros: Generally excellent voice acting, Huntsman himself has a satisfyingly creepy design, Hunting down objects based on clues encourages exploration, Hedge maze adds tension
  • Cons: Stops being scary too quickly, Occasional bugs, Lack of true danger eventually lessens the scares

An Unsettling Masterpiece

30 October 2013
  • Excerpt: Tick tock. Tick tock. Illinois, June 17th 1898. The night twelve young souls disappeared without trace from Grimhaven Orphanage. Some say it was Jasper Croad, the Scottish caretaker, who murdered the wee bairns and hid their bodies. He himself claims responsibility, so maybe that's true. Or maybe it's just guilt that he didn't do more. Didn't try to save them. Protect them. Because others say something else dwelt in that old orphanage.

Huntsman: The Orphanage Review (PC)

21 October 2013
  • Summary: The last few weeks have brought two horror titles to my desk and, after playing through Outlast and the new Amnesia, I thought that I was pretty well immunized to the various tricks that the genre is using to deliver goose bumps to my arms and a sinking feeling somewhere between by heart and my stomach.
  • Pros: + Varied characters and stories, + A lingering feeling of dread
  • Cons: - Limited gameplay, - Some graphics glitches

TEST. Huntsman : The Orphanage

Game Blog
18 September 2013
