Summary: Game locks up my computer, at times, just before checkmating my opponent. I fear it could do damage to my system, and intend to see if I can uninstall it. I tried their so-called tech support number. It is independent techs charging many times the value of the game. There are plenty of other games out there and a computer system is hard enough to keep in proper working order without questionable software programs loitering within...
Summary: 3/3/12 I could not get this game to work with Windows XP SP3 on my desktop or my laptop. I am computer savvy. To make matters worse, I searched the internet for patches or information to try to get it to operate on my desktop, but couldn't find much. To make matters even worse, the patch I did find contained a nasty virus that my AVG virus scanner didn't catch, ruining my computer.
Summary: This program has the potential to be a great tool for improvement at chess, but I haven't been able to use it because it keeps blinking at me every two seconds or so, which prevents me from reading its advice. When I explained the problem to Support, a member of their team got right back to me, telling me that solving the problem I described was his area of expertise. The screen then asked me how much I'd be willing to pay for the answer.
Summary: I got this game in April 2010 and so far I have not been able to run it. I have tried it on a Toshiba XP-Home-SP2 notebook and a year old Toshiba XP-Home-SP3 laptop as well as a two year old Dell XP-Pro-SP3 WS without any success. After many hours of trying and searching for a remedy, I have given up on this software. There is a high probability that this software does not work on newer PCs.
Summary: I had an earlier version of this game which worked fine until I scratched the CD. This copy is a great bother. First, it locked up Windows XP, repeatedly. Now the first time I start it daily, the Install & promo blip comes up. Have to shut it down and start over. Should have sent the #$%&@ back, whether or not I got a refund. The game itself, the tutorials, etc. are most enjoyable.
Summary: The "Create a Review" combobox did not provide a "zero" star rating or I would have picked that one. I'm in agreement with these other reviews. My wife bought this game at Christmas for our son. I'm a software engineer with a Masters degree and I could not get this game to execute. The Lego website has a FAQ that says you must first run the "configuration" program and then load the actual Chess play program from there.
Summary: I agree with the other reviewer - this is a worthless product. I've attempted to load on two different computers, and the software fails to initiate setup every time. My kids were pretty disappointed. Great job, Lego!
