Summary: Old it may be, but the slightly chunky graphics in no way diminish what is an excellent game. I'd have payed twice the amount to play through its various missions and I look forward to continuing the story in Homeworld 2 (PC) .
Summary: This was purchased as a replacement for a previous copy of this game after the disks wore out. I of course knew what I was getting! Overall excellent from both Amazon and there seller as well as Sierra for devolping the game to begin with. Highly addictive, if frustrating at times!
Summary: Homeworld plays well and is a good looking game for its vintage. I've only completed the first couple of levels; they're well designed and highly playable. Getting used to the 3D location method for deploying space ships, took a while but it works. Considering its age this is an enjoyable game, I will continue to try getting hold of Homeworld 2, so that must say something.
Excerpt: Homeworld is one of those long, long games designed to be played over numerous sessions (unless you are either a masochist or posessed of far too much spare time and no need for sleep.)Conveniently, it has 16 levels/missions, which helps to divide it up neatly, and you can save part way through a section if you want.
Excerpt: Introduction ------------ Homeworld is still one of he only rts games (real time strategy) that was ever in true 3d (I do not mean graphics I mean spacial location). It is set entirely in space and follows the story of a race of people who were evicted from their homeworld (hence the title) in the centre of the galaxy by evil conquerers and relocated to a desolate desert world. The ship carrying them there crashed and their advanced technologies were lost.
Excerpt: What a Great game.... One of many great games by Sierra. A 3D real-time strategy game which keeps you in at the deep end all the time. Been playing it for a year now and still cant keep off it. You can get loads of new maps to play over the net or 1 to 1 with the computer.(Won Swap) There are a few problems with playing over the net. Depending on who you play with and the processor speed of their computer. If you do get problems, most times its the graphics.
Excerpt: "...again. In this case, playing Homeworld was like reading a good book. Not a great book, mind you, but a good one (and certainly not "Best of the Year"). Sure, you finish it... but then you put it down. ...
Pros: Impressive graphics, horribly addictive until you beat it .
Cons: Unimaginative story - telling, several faults in the gameplay . Music was a disappointment .
Excerpt: "Yup, it's different, it is in full 3d, wow. It's confusing at first, after playing games like c+c, it can be as quite a shock, but an interesting one. I saw the game second hand, and picked it up for a tenner, along with broken sword, and this may sound silly, but broken sword took over my life! Well after that was compleated, I went back to homeworld. it plays really well, has a good interface, and an ok tech tree. I did find the 3d enviroment can ...
