Hitman: Contracts

Game Over Online
4 December 2004
  • Excerpt: Third verse, same as the first. When I die I’d like the life that flashes before my eyes to be filled with sweet, gauzy scenes of misspent youth – days at the beach, playing with my dogs, hikes in the White Mountains, and alcohol binge weekends with Britney and Beyonce. In Hitman: Contracts the character known only as 47 gets no such luxury.

Hitman: Contracts

  • Excerpt: Hitman: Contracts is third installment in the Hitman series which takes you into the mind of a ruthlessly efficient contract killer, showing the action and the world through the eyes of Agent 47. Once again you assume the role of Agent 47, a skilled assassin who is rewarded for completing contract killings as cleanly as possible, without hurting innocent civilians or being caught. Personally, I'm glad that the original Hitman is back.

Agent 47's Greatest Hits

7 July 2004
  • Excerpt: Eidos Interactive's definition of a contract: A death warrant for the damned. The terms of execution? A binding proposal of interest between two conspiring parties, usually both financial and/or strategic. You can define a contract as you so please, but if you're the target it only means one thing. Treasure these moments of your very short life...as if they were your last. He's coming for you.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: All the same though, Hitman Contracts is a worthwhile purchase, and one that fans of the series should pick up without hesitation. For the rest of us, enjoyment of Contracts boils down to how much effort you want to put in. If revisiting levels to achieve higher scores is something you'd rather do without, then Hitman was never the game for you, and Contracts does nothing to sway your opinion.

Hitman: Contracts

ActionTrip
6 May 2004
  • Conclusion: To sum up, Hitman Contracts does a good job on extending the series, even if it does not bring a whole lot new to the party - which is basically why we opted for a 75 mark. With its graphic violence the game is rated M for mature. This means that children should not be in the same room as the game disc, even if there is no console or computer present to play it on.
  • Pros: Decent graphics, enjoyable audio, creative level design, a worthy continuation of the series;
  • Cons: Maybe a tad too violent for some, somewhat unpolished individual AI, character animation needs an extra touch or two, certain missions seem too linear.

  • Summary: Everyone's favorite bald-headed assassin is back for his third outing in Hitman: Contracts, a game that's especially recommendable to fans of 2002's Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, because the gameplay and a lot of the visuals simply haven't changed in this latest installment. Danish developer Io Interactive created a memorable character and some impressive technology with its original Hitman game, but not till the sequel did the gameplay live up to the graphics.
