  • Summary: Hidden and Dangerous is a hell of a game, although some of the missions, in addition to being hard, are frustrating due to various bugs that just end up infuriating the gamer. I also noticed that, for the most part, the early missions tend to be a little bit harder than the later missions and that might turn you off.

Hidden and Dangerous 2

GamersHell.com

  • Excerpt: World War 2 – our finest hours of victory over evil Nazism. As a revisited topic, by many many gamers and developers, it has brought great games like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Battlefield 1942. But none of these showed the explicit detail of being a specially trained team of British SAS soldiers, going beyond enemy lines to do the most devastating of attacks. These attacks could've very well changed the war in our favor as we know it.

  • Conclusion: Easily the most impressive and most immersive World War II game to date. Illusion Softworks have created a superb sequel and I hope we either have an add-on or another sequel in the works.

Hidden & Dangerous 2 Review

GameSpot
12 June 2004
  • Excerpt: Released back in 1999, Hidden & Dangerous helped spearhead the burgeoning tactical shooter genre. It took the careful planning, team coordination, and one-shot-one-kill ethos that have come to define the genre and set them during the dark days of World War II. You controlled daring commandos of the British Special Air Service, fighting Axis aggression with brains and stealth as much as with firepower.

  • Conclusion: Hidden & Dangerous 2 has a few frustrating areas: the game is buggy and unstable in its shipped form (and to a lesser extent, its patched form), the AI is a calamity of micromanagement, and the lack of a multiplayer cooperative mode will ultimately hurt the game's longevity. But despite all my hemming and hawing, I don't want to understate Hidden & Dangerous 2 's terrific success in mission design and challenging tactical gameplay.

  • Excerpt: Released in 1999, the first Hidden & Dangerous game was one of the original four fathers of the tactical first-person shooter genre: along with it were Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Delta Force, and SWAT 3. Naturally, there were differences between the Czech-developed World War II FPS and its competition, but like the others, it developed a cult-like following which paid homage to its uniquely open-ended gameplay despite its bug-riddled state.

Hidden & Dangerous 2

Game Over Online
5 November 2003
  • Excerpt: Hidden and Dangerous 2 is an action WWII game - a sequel that took four years to materialize. It pioneered many facets of the WWII action game, including driveable vehicles, authentic weapons and sound. Hidden and Dangerous 2 doesn't tamper with the original's formula. You're still tasked to lead a squad of four soldiers on covert and guerilla operations behind enemy lines.

  • Excerpt: Although World War Two games, are becoming more and more common on software store shelves, one type of game that has still lacked high-quality offerings is the first-person shooter (FPS) World War Two action game. Hidden and Dangerous attempts to fill the gap.

Hidden & Dangerous 2

Gamecell
19 October 2007
  • Conclusion: Whilst still having a few bugs and the occasional glitch, the pure genius of the way Hidden & Dangerous 2 plays means that you hardly notice them. I think this is an essential purchase for anyone with a PC - it's even good enough to warrant "that" upgrade you have been holding off on. So when next in a games shop, have a look for this one.
  • Pros: Graphics, depth, strategy, I could go on…
  • Cons: Nothing I can think of.
