Heroes of Might and Magic V

Strategy Informer

  • Conclusion: It was mentioned that the multiplayer is quite buggy, but if you are playing with your friends, Heroes of Might and Magic V will still be such a wonderful experience for all of you. I am truly spellbound by the splendor of this game, hooray to Nival for bringing back Heroes of Might and Magic.

  • Excerpt: Having played the Heroes series for over 15 years, it's nice to see a game that evolves and adds the latest technology, but stays faithful to its roots. You may not know this, but the Heroes series was based on a little game called King's Bounty that was created back in 1990. I played King's Bounty first on a Commodore 64 (if that does not date me, nothing will) and then eventually on a PC.

  • Excerpt: Apologies to Tolkien geeks, but it's wholly appropriate to describe Heroes of Might and Magic V as "the return of the king." After all, it's the long-awaited, new addition to the royal family of turn-based strategy gaming arriving all triumphant and glorious.

Heroes of Might and Magic V

  • Excerpt: Heroes of Might & Magic V was one of those games that I was actually quite antsy about playing. Heroes 1,2 and 3 were enjoyable affairs and then we got number IV, which more or less made me think that the game was winding down. Publisher 3DO, most likely known for the shambling Army Men franchise went down the tubes and the game was then resurrected by Ubisoft and developer Nival.

  • Excerpt: Heroes of Might and Magic V, an introduction. The Heroes of Might and Magic series is one of the true classics of the turn-based strategy genre. Of course with the closure of 3DO and New World Computing it looked as though the series had gone for good. Thankfully that isn't the case as Ubisoft picked up the rights to the Might and Magic games and Nival Interactive were charged with creating a fifth game in the Heroes of Might and Magic series.

Heroes of Might and Magic 4

ActionTrip

  • Conclusion: No, this is hardly the end. This is but a start of the madness. Now rush off to get your copy of the Heroes, and see you in a MP game! Oh, and two more things. First: the music. I didn't write too much about it as I want you to experience it first hand, and enjoy it all the way from the crystal clear sound of the accordion to the mighty rumble of the waterfall. Second, most of the enemy beasts are female.
  • Pros: A beautiful game; all we used to love returns in a new shiny armor;
  • Cons: Campaigns have few missions, which are very long and at times quite tiresome; the game could use some more music.
