Summary: To begin with, I was a diehard HOI2 fan, having played every major power in the game, often many times. In HOI 3 so far I've played Germany several times now, with 25+ hours of game time in HOI 3 is basically the same concept, with a changed interface. First negative: no manual. Not in the case, not on the disk. I had to find it online. A small issue, but not a positive first impression. Paradox's on-line registration is impossibly buggy as well.
Summary: good game, but not for the feint of heart. You have to be a detail oriented die hard war gamer not only to play this game but also in appreciate it as well....At least that's my felling about it. I also found the service timely and beyond my expectation.
Summary: This game spans all the macro facets of world war 2--economics, trade, every branch of the military, underground resistance, intelligence, battle tactics, battle strategies, leadership, etc., etc.. The only downer was that it ends Jan. 1, 1948--you want it to go on and on and on.
Summary: This game is one of if not the best WW2 strategy game I've ever played. There needs to be more games covering other conflicts similar to this. The amount of time and effort put into this game was well worth it. This game is not a quick game, requires a great deal of time, but its worth it. Lets you fight WW2 how you want. Only complaint is how the AI decides to build units.
There Is a Fix for Installation Problem on OS X Lion! Read here ...
23 December 2013
Summary: If you are having difficulties installing to Lion, go here: [...] Download the HOI 3 file, backup the original Hearts of Iron 3 executable wherever you installed it and copy this file in. Fixed. Should give seller a 1 star for not making this abundantly clear. The game itself is second to none for deep grand strategy. Worth the hassle!
Summary: There is no better strategy ww2 game out there. Once you spend the week to learn and get a feel for the game it's extremely addictive with high replay value. The more you play the more you like it, definitely not a game you can just pick up and play.
Summary: Hearts of Iron 3, fantastic game. Takes you to World War 3, be any country from the time period. there is however a steep learning curve to this game (nothing new for Paradox Interactive) and there is not much to help you on the game or manuel, but you can go to "The Paradox Forums" lots of help there and they will answer questions very quickly and watch some of the AAR (After Action Reports) and soon you will be like me and be decent/very good with Paradox games...
