Hard Reset review

GamesRadar
24 June 2012
  • Excerpt: It takes less than ten seconds for Hard Reset to define the kind of shooter it truly is. There is no crouching, no cover, and no reloading. It has exactly two guns; one of 'em is an energy gun that shoots lightning-lasers, and the other is a rifle whose targeting reticule is always red.
  • Pros: The look and sound of it all, Sweet encounters and weapons, How badass you'll feel
  • Cons: Wretched story and cinematics, Intolerable voice acting, Default difficulty is just unfair

Hard Reset

Game Boyz
23 December 2011
  • Excerpt: Set the wayback machine to, ooooh, around 1993 or so. FPS, back then, was an almost completely different beastie, with levels that you got scored on, enemies that were invulnerable except for very specific weak-points (not always located on their body), and each area had more explosive barrels than...

Hard Reset review (PC)

HonestGamers
20 December 2011
  • Excerpt: Hard Reset is a game out of time. It eschews the most popular tropes of modern shooters, like cover and regenerating health, in favor of non-stop, balls-out action in the style of Painkiller and Serious Sam .

Hard Reset

ActionTrip
29 September 2011
  • Conclusion: In a nutshell, Hard Reset relies on the traditional frantic first-person shooter formula, which most of you are bound to recognize from games such as Serious Sam, Painkiller and the like.
  • Pros: Surprisingly good-looking, runs smoothly on a majority of rigs, the sounds is okay too, the gameplay has enough to engage shooter fans;
  • Cons: Dumb story, players can't crouch or reload their weapons and switching between the two main weapons is sometimes unresponsive, the game's a bit on the short side.

Hard Reset

Auracore MediaWorks
27 September 2011
  • Summary: There's no breaking of the mold here, but an enjoyable game nonetheless.
  • Pros: Sharp graphics and cyberpunk aesthetic; classic shooter gameplay; lots of environmental objects to damage opponents; numerous upgrades.
  • Cons: Some enemies take far too many bullets; checkpoints are too sparsely placed; hard to upgrade when you don't know what's good and what isn't.
