Ground Control II : Operation Exodus

Game Boyz
21 September 2005
  • Excerpt: Ground Control was originally released 4 years-ago. Now four years later Vivendi and Massive have launched the sequel to the game, Ground Control II: Operation Exodus. GC2 continues on the tradition of excellent tactical gameplay but also adds a new state of the art 3D engine. It's the first RTS game to really utilize a powerful 3D graphics engine allowing you to zoom right in on the fight and view individual troops in action.

Ground Control II: Operation Exodus

The Gamers Temple
12 July 2005
  • Excerpt: Ground Control II: Operation Exodus is an aptly named game because it is all about controlling territory. There is no base-building in the game and no resource gathering – instead the action is focused on controlling strategic points on the map and “special drop zones” used to bring in reinforcements. The result is a real-time strategy game that is very tactics-focused and that delivers fast-paced, and at times frantic, action.

Ground Control II: Operation Exodus

Gameguru Mania
23 June 2005
  • Excerpt: There's no doubt that the original Ground Control was one of the first games to define the real-time tactical combat genre, and one of the better ones as well. For those who that don't remember the original Ground Control, it was one of the first games that used a fully 3D engine and it brought in a gameplay mechanic that didn't rely on gathering resources, building structures or researching but was rather a tactical action style game.

  • Excerpt: Sierra's Ground Control II: Operation Exodus is a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game, but streamlined and revved up, forgoing most of the typically finicky micro-managerial tasks and concentrating on micro-managing troops and units in the thick of battle.

The Wargamer
6 September 2004
  • Excerpt: The Wargamer is pleased to present Massive Entertainment and Vivendi Universal with this Award for Excellence for Ground Control II.  Ground Control II is the best RTS to come out yet this year. It offers great gameplay, a long single-player game, fun online play, a decent storyline, and wraps it all up in a beautiful, streamlined presentation. The original Ground Control, released four years ago, was a hit with most critics, but never found any real momentum with the...

Ground Control 2 PC Review

Game Info Wire
1 August 2004
  • Excerpt: Overall Ground Control 2 is a very appealing game. Sure it breaks away from the traditional RTS titles, but due to strong single player and dynamic gameplay, it catches on fast.

Ground Control II

The Armchair Empire
22 June 2004
  • Conclusion: This sets the stage for what comes down to a real time strategy game where the strategy is focused completely on the combat. Troop movements and vehicle support become critical to success. GC2 has no resources. There is no base building and no harvesting of ore etc. As such, units can not be created. Throughout the maps, there will be victory locations. Capturing these locations shows your superiors that new units can justifiably be given to you.
