Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a sandbox-style video game developed by Scotland’s DMA Design which is now known as Rockstar North Ltd. It is the fourth Grand Theft Auto installment and the second three-dimensional game in the series. The game was published by Rockstar Games and it was initially released for the Sony Playstation 2 in 2002. The game has since been developed for Windows and the Xbox. The Windows and Xbox versions were released in 2003.

Setting

The game is set in the 1980s within a fictional city called Vice City whose landscape and style is modeled after Miami, Florida.

Gameplay

Players of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City take on a role of a mafia hitman named Tommy Vercetti who has just been released from prison after serving his time for killing eleven men. Vercetti used to work for a Liberty City mafia called the Forellis. The Forellis send Vercetti to Vice City to purchase cocaine. However, during the first meeting with the dealers, the dealer and his bodyguards get killed in an ambush. Vercetti escapes but loses both the Forelli's money and the cocaine.

Vercetti is then tasked to retrieve the money and the cocaine as well as kill those responsible for the ambush. In pursuit of this goal, players go through a number of missions in order to unlock certain areas as well as to complete the game’s storyline which has a number of twists. The players have to engage in a number of criminal activities as their character slowly becomes the crime kingpin of Vice City.

System Requirements

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City runs on Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition, and WIndows XP. It requires at least an 800 MHz processor, a 32 megabyte video card, 915 megabytes of hard drive space, and 128 megabytes of RAM.
