If you're going to design a game which so obviously smacks of the competition, you better make some more innovations than blowing up gophers. If you really want to design golf courses, pick up one of the golf sims (I suggest PGA Championship Golf 2000) and have at it. Just don't look to Golf Resort Tycoon; let the gophers have their day. Golf Resort Tycoon comes with a 3D mode that allows you to tour your resort from the golfers' perspective. This is more of a 'gee-whiz' feature as you can not manage your course from this view. While it is interesting to tour your resort from this viewpoint, you'll only make use of it occasionally as it will not hold your interest for very long. Read more
The thought of being able to design your own golf course a la Jack Nicklaus and see if it would be popular and usable is a fantastic idea, but this game does it so badly that it is a shame and a waste of peoples creative time for the lack of good planning. Based very much around the same game engine as Roller coaster tycoon the game has a certain cuteness to it, but then again RCT had good playability, this game does not. Read more
