Waste of time and money. Poorly written, untested garbage
28 January 2011
Summary: If you like wasting your time, this game's for you. As others have already said, the installer is pathetic. Took me an hour or so to find the work around for installing anywhere other than the default. Once I finally got the game installed, it plays through the first movie and crashes. My system exceeds the requirements and I have NEVER seen a more poorly written piece of software in my life. This company should be ashamed of themselves. What a joke.
Summary: As others have pointed out the installer is broken and will not even install. I made the mistake(?!?) of trying to install in a directory other than C: at first and now the whole thing is borked. It won't even let me try to install it on C: . Even went into the registry to remove any traces of this abomination and still no luck. If I'm really bored I'll start moving files around, but nobody should go through this much effort for any game.
Summary: I cannot even load the game. An error saying "3D failed to initialize". When I googled to try to fix the problem I found out that the problem is a common one. Not only that, but that the game is buggy and the game creator does not respond to any questions on how to fix it. If you want to spend hours trying to fix a game before you play it, then this game is for you, otherwise stay away!
Summary: And now Atari joins the DRM thralls with a protection scheme so stringent that legitimate buyers won't be able to install the game! Whether the title is fun on non-PC platforms or not, I don't know (and for those who managed to install, they have realized in shock that multiplayer options have been taken away for PC users). I can't get my copy to install regardless of what I try.
Summary: Be wary of this title. I can't get this to run. After a lot of time searching blogs, message boards, f.a.q.'s, customer support sites etc. it seems that a lot of folks have the same or similar problems. I have a gaming monster - i7, gtx260, 6mb of ram. My machine just crushes the recommended requirements for this game, but right at the opening, doink... nothing. I just get a blank screen, and an error message that nobody seems to know how to decipher.
Summary: I bought the Ghostbusters PC version. Installed successfully and loaded properly. However, after the initial cinematic scene and intro scene, the game freezes. The freeze happens before you even get a chance to play. Also, the game freeze is so bad that you have to reboot your whole computer. Contacting the company, Atari, does no good; been waiting a week with no response. Note: The computer that I use exceeds the minimum requirements to play.
Summary: I noted that some reviews had mentioned problems they had installing software with XP. But since I have been running lots of video games on a high end multimedia computer (though several years old)...didn't think I would have a problem. Wrong! Installation is very slow. Says it can't find some files. No other video games required these files. Found them and download. Couldn't ever get software to run anyway.
Summary: Product should not have made it past beta testing, should not be on shelves at a high quality retailer like JR. After following each instruction listed the game simply did not load. Plenty of similar issues/comments on forums across the web. i have a new quad core processor, and am experienced gamer. Just a notice to others out there beware of product. once you buy it you cant ask for a $$refund or exchange as its a PC game.
Summary: SecuROM. 3 install limit. Online activation. While EA and other companies are starting to move away from DRM, Atari apparently can't take a hint. Oh and you also can't save anywhere. Typical brainless console port. While I understand that consoles being inferior and all have problems with save anywhere, at least allow us PC gamers to save whenever we want. This game doesn't deserve more than 1 star.
