  • Summary: Space seems like an unfriendly place. Beyond the regular hazards such as the lack of oxygen, lots of floating junk, and apocalypse-causing chunks of rock and ice, there's also all the people fighting. Killing people in space, particularly with ships, appears to be rather popular. Though not popular enough so that we are drowning in games on the subject. Killing things on alien worlds? Sure. Killing people in the future? Plenty of that. But not much space warfare.

However, this game is written in Unity so I have to note a combination of bias and over-criticalness about how I view this game.   • Conclusion: As we’ve said elsewhere, with Ironclad bidding farewell to Sins of a Solar Empire for the moment, and with Sword of the Stars II still very much a work in progress, games like Gemini Wars are a welcome sight. Even here though, there’s still a bit of extra polish needed, not to mention, well, the rest of the game. If you like story and want to take yourself through the tale of the Gemini sector, then by all means give this game a go.

  • Conclusion: My frustration with the game reached new heights when I installed the patch and consequentially lost the save game of a mission that I had been playing for almost an hour. It stung greatly having struggled not only with the interface but also with numerous failed assaults on an enemy position and – finally having conquered it – seeing my investment go to waste as the newly patched game did not allow me to continue.

  • Conclusion: With the amount of complexity involved, Gemini Wars can only be recommended to serious RTS players. However, you should definitely reconsider what you want from a game before purchasing this one. There is no multiplayer (despite one being advertised on the back of the box), no skirmish mode where you can take command of any faction and play against the computer, battles are heavily scripted so the enemy will not surprise attack you in interesting ways, and the action...
  • Pros: Fantastic large scale battles.
  • Cons: Buggy. No multiplayer. Simple 'rush in with big guns' gameplay. Enemy never surprises you.

  • Conclusion: Was soll man sagen? Gemini Wars ist wie eine 15 beim Blackjack, bei der man nicht weiß, ob man eine weitere Karte ziehen soll oder nicht. Es ist nicht gut aber auch nicht schlecht. Es weiß mit guten Ideen zu gefallen. Endlich ein Weltraum-RTS mit schwerfälligen Kreuzern und Raumträgern, Hyperantriebe, die wieder aufgeladen werden müssen, Gefechte mit großen Kampfverbänden und das Ganze ist auch noch schick anzusehen.

  • Summary: Gemini Wars est un space opera encore très perfectible. Le titre propose un gameplay assez classique, et des possibilités tactiques intéressantes, mais sa réalisation technique n'est pas de plus maîtrisés, et le texte en anglais n'aide pas toujours à progresser sans encombre. Le titre devrait néanmoins séduire les fans du genre, les concurrents étant assez rares actuellement.

  • Conclusion: Ich mag Science-Fiction, ich mag Strategie. Beides zusammen? Wunderbar! Allerdings dann bitte nicht so wie bei Gemini Wars. Positiv finde ich immerhin noch das unterhaltsame Story-Gerüst sowie das klassische RTS-Prinzip mit dem Ressourcenabbau. Das alles habe ich aber schon etliche Male besser gesehen. Gemini Wars bietet darüber hinaus nichts Besonderes, hat keinerlei Alleinstellungsmerkmal. Das Gameplay ist zu oberflächlich, bietet zu wenig spielerische Abwechslung.
  • Pros: nette Raumschiffmodelle..., Zwischensequenzen..., ordentliche Sprecher, ordentlicher Soundtrack, übersichtliches Interface..., im Kern klassisches RTS-Prinzip, unterhaltsames Story-Gerüst, Forschung..., Tutorial
  • Cons: Detail- und Texturarmut, technisch mittelmäßig, ...aber zumeist nur als Symbole sichtbar, ...die qualitativ durchwachsen sind, ...mit Einschränkungen (Selbstzerstörungsknopf), Übersetzungsfehler, falsche Meldungen, fummelige Steuerung, ständiges Rein- und Rauszoomen, Einheiten bewegen sich im Schneckentempo, langsamer Einheitenbau, viel Leerlauf, spielerische Sackgassen, nur ein Spielmodus, wenig spielerische Abwechslung, keine Aufklärung, ...die zu oberflächlich blei...
