Football Manager 2014

Thunderbolt Games
14 November 2013
  • Excerpt: To love Football Manager or to hate Football Manager ? It’s a complicated relationship. Like football in the real world, Sports Interactive’s long running series takes you from the highest highs to the lowest lows, without much care for your mental well-being. One minute your star striker is banging in goals by the bucketload against the cream of European club football, the next you’re losing three-nil to Pisschester Town, said star striker is being stretchered off in...

Football Manager 2014

  • Summary: As I finish this review, English Premier Division side Tottenham Hostspur, managed by Andre Villa Boas, sit fourth in the league, despite some inconsistent performances. In Football Manager 2014 , Tottenham Hotspur, managed by myself, are just inside the top half of the table and are lucky to still be involved in the Europa Cup. Videogames often criticized for being power fantasies, letting players live out unlikely dreams of being heroes and warriors.

Football Manager 2014

  • Conclusion: Outside of the core game, a number of other options are available – a Classic mode, offering streamlined gameplay similar to past entries, and a series of challenges putting the player in a predetermined situation rather than starting from scratch. Notably the Classic mode also permits cross-platform save compatibility with the PlayStation Vita.

Football Manager 2014 Review (PC)

Softpedia
6 November 2013
  • Conclusion: The tactics-related changes introduced by Football Manager 2014 are truly significant and it will be interesting to see how fans react to them and to the way they change the simulation experience. I like the fact that I can quickly change the shape of my team if it performs badly, but I know that long-term fans might be disappointed to hear that they have less control than they are used to.
  • Pros: + Tactical re-design, + Extensive interactions with players and journalists, + Improved interface
  • Cons: - Some transfer issues, - 3D matches still disappoint

Football Manager 14 Review: King of the pitch

GameZone
4 November 2013
  • Excerpt: The next generation of consoles has nearly arrived. With them comes the next generation of sports games, featuring improved graphics and advanced features.  Then there’s Football Manager 14 , the other kind of sports game. Instead of duking it out on the field, FM14 is all about the behind the scenes action; roster moves, tactics, strategies, pep talks.

Football Manager 2014

Strategy Informer
3 November 2013
  • Conclusion: And that fully-featured behemoth is still Football Manager through and through, despite the changes discussed above. The sensation of playing the same excellent simulation from a slightly different angle is rewarding however, and it’s refreshing that after so many years of upping the complexity levels and surfacing detail that most games keep behind the scenes, Sports Interactive has taken a long look at their primary tactical setup and made changes to make it more...

Football Manager 2014

IGN
30 October 2013
  • Conclusion: There are few games that can soak up my time as much as the Football Manager series can over an entire year, and it’s set to continue thanks to another solid outing. On face value there are fewer drastic improvements, but many gentle refinements to the UI and subtle additions to its newer formulas mean that Football Manager 2014 improves solidly where it counts.
  • Pros: User-friendly UI, Incredibly deep, Classic mode
  • Cons: Awkward animations, Repetitive meetings
