Summary: Potential purchasers should be aware that Microsoft has included one-time activation on the disks. This means that, like their operating systems, the program is tied forever to run only on the machine in which it was installed first. Not transferable. Ever.
Summary: From the product promo I was led to believe that this version of FS was substantially more and better than FS 2004. It's not. It's different but not much better, if at all. The realism is a bit better, but some of the control and cockpit view options offered on FS 2004 are strangely missing from this version. If what you're interested in is simply flying various aircraft in different venues, FS 2004 is just about as good as FS X.
Summary: Amazon was great in getting the product out. I have a brand new Windows 7 computer that was unable to support the game. The visuals took a long time to load and after playing for more than 5 minutes my computer would blue screen and shut down. It is a great game when I could play for 5 minutes, but was unable to run the program due to the load requirement.
Summary: This Game is listed for Windows 7, but it lockes my computer once in a while. I was checking for problems on Microsoft's website. Microsoft has a webpage were it shows what is compatible with what operating system. Flight simulator is only compatible with Windows 7 32bit edition. Not Windows 7 64bit!!! I should have done my research better first. The game is very nice as long as it works.
Summary: The is the second purchase of this game because Microsoft does not like you to be able to reload this game more than one time on any computer other than the one you use. I had a bad crash of my computer and tried to reload this one but couldn't do it. That is the only reason I bought this game. Otherwise, I have never had a complaint with using it at all. I rated it at 3 stars because of Microsoft's stupid policy of not allowing you to load the software more than 1 time.
Summary: Those who use lots of MS Software know that upon closer inspection they generally include warts and blemishes that deter from the otherwise intended result. FSX is no different in this regard. Others have commented on how the actual simulation (flight dynamics) is not true to real flight simulators. I found this evident during landing when the simulated aircraft seemed to fly "overcontrolled" compared to its true counterpart.
Summary: I have Flight Simulator X, Saitek Pro Flight yoke with the 3 lever throttle unit, and the Saitek Rudder pedals. This program is just what it is named a Flight Simulator. I thought this program would be more game like. This program is not very friendly. I think this program assumes the people who buy it are familiar with flying planes. I have found that many people that buy this package are pilots when I called tech support.
Summary: The FSX Gold is the best option to get because you get more for less, two products in one for a reasonable price. FSX Gold gives you the quality of FSX Deluxe plus the accelaration package with all the great missions which I consider to be the best feature in FSX as compared to FS2004. The realism level is good but not as great as I expected it to be, but is much more detailed and realistic than FS2004 including traffic, scenary, and aircraft.
Summary: As a Pilot, I bought this version because it included the G-1000 glass cockpit. The G-1000 simulator from Garmin is $119, FSX was only $34.95. So, overall, I got what I wanted. I was very disappointed that MS decided to dumb down the flight physics even more than in FS9. Lot's of silly things too: For example, the left turning tendency is pronounced in a single engine propellor aircraft. This is caused by Torque, P-Factor, Gyroscopic precession and slipstream.
