Summary: I, also, have FS2002. For flying fun, it's the way to go. I almost never use Flight Simulator X.
Pros: Beautiful scenery. More accurate geographically, than previous versions. Variety of aircraft to choose from.
Cons: This is a very good example of bloatware. It might run smoothly on the top end 2011 gaming computer, but, other than that you'll have to scale the graphics way back to get it to run without hiccups. It takes way too long to load.
Been using MS Flight sim since version 4.0 and the pattern continues

Summary: This game certianly will give the average person a very good idea of how and what it is like to fly the real thing. I certianly wouldn't use it as a training aide, but it will very much put you ahead when you do your first flight lesson with a certified instructor.
Pros: It is the best Flight Simulator on the market and has great 3rd party support. High end year model 2011 hardware will run this 5 year old game/sim at fluid frame rates for all resolutions up to but probably not including 1080p
Cons: I have been using MS Flight Simulator since version 4.0 and a loyal customer since version 5.0. To be completly honest every version after 5.0/5.1 has failed to meet my expectations. Sure, FS95 on paper, or screen shot for that matter, was way ahead of its time but once you load it on your newest...
Summary: There's a reason why Microsoft is hated so much.
Pros: Installed it on two computers. Worked fine on one, though was very demanding on hardware. Lots of airplanes and settings to choose from.
Cons: Second computer, refused to install. Tried everything and spent hours working on it. Eventually emailed Microsoft; their "fix" caused new problems to occur. Thus, I have just spent $1400 on a new gaming rig, and the one game I really wanted to play on it absolutely won't work.
Summary: The last version of Flight Simulator I had was 2000. Compared to that the aircraft physics are much improved, the graphics aren't improved as much as I would have expected, some aircraft have been added and some removed, there are now other planes in the air with you, and the always fun on-line...
Pros: Covers the world airports down to grass fields, online multi-player, slightly improved graphics and moderately improved plane physics, real world weather. If you have a 9800 or better nvidia video card you can enjoy flying in 3d too. That really livens things up.
Cons: It can't get the time of day correct. I'm playing free flight, the default starting location is Friday Harbor. Change to a different airport to start from and the time of day is always incorrect. There is no excuse for that basic programming deficiency, and it also messes up the real world weathe...
Summary: Do some research before you purchase this software... There's a lot more involved than just loading it on to your computer and then going flying. There are more than a dozen glitches and problems that you have to work around to make the software work...
Pros: Unfortunately I would have to recommend that you avoid FSX. When the program works it very fun if you enjoy the technical aspect and realistic demands of piloting an aircraft. I've had so many technical problems with this software and when you read the discussion boards you find out that tons of ...
Cons: It's hit or miss if FSX will even work when you start the program... At least once month you can count on having to reinstall the program or doing a repair on the program. Very disappointing because this is not Microsoft's first attempt at a Flight Simulator - It should run smoother. (I'm running...
Summary: impossible de naviguer. Je pilote un Cessna (un vrai !) et la différence est énorme. Tourner à droite ou à gauche se fait toujours très violemment. impossible de guider l'avion avec précision. monter et descendre est le meme calvaire.
