Summary: The first thing I'd recommend to you, if you're planning on buying "Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Gold Edition with the Acceleration Expansion Pack" is to check your graphics card! If you've had your computer for more then a couple years, then most likely, it's not going to allow you to play this simulator. Don't get upset after you load the simulator and find your graphics card is too old!
Summary: I've been flying Microsoft Flight Simulator since the first version. And, I'm a retired airline pilot, having flown real airplanes for almost sixty years. It's installed with Acceleration on a new Windows 8.1 desktop. The program is constantly aborting for no good reason. Some of the aborting is caused by trying to save flights. I have found no documentation as to why it aborts. I fly all the advanced aircraft with the most realistic settings, using the virtual cockpit.
Summary: Bought this for my son and the product key wouldn't install and when we tried repeatedly to get tech help from Microsoft, they were absolutely useless. Had an older version which worked fine, which we replaced with this edition. Microsoft never fixed the problem, nor replaced it with a functioning product. Complete waste of money and would never buy anything from them again if I could help it. No wonder they're not making this piece of junk anymore.
Summary: Glad I did not get this a few years back. I can't seem to pull myself away from this simulator. It's crazy fun and I have just scratched the surface of it. I can't tell you how fun this program is. It provides a very realistic version of operating a real aircraft. It sure has consumed some of my time. Not sure if my wife is still around or not.
Summary: Just thought that Amazon should know that Microsoft no longer gives help or support for Microsoft Flight Simulator X Gold Edition which I bought from Amazon about a week ago. I was informed of this by a Microsoft technician while attempting to get Microsoft Flight Simulator to function properly in my new computer with Windows 8.1.
Summary: Flight Simulator X is falsely advertised as being capable of being operated online with other people, it also advertises that you can work in the tower for air control which would only be available online, but since you are unable to go online in the game, that is Microsoft's false advertising propaganda as well.
So much promised, but so many problems - very disappointing!

Summary: No one should sell, or buy this product expecting it to be a current, functional and supported simulation! As a former pilot, I hoped Flight Simulator X Gold Edition would bring back some of they experiences I enjoyed so much as a private pilot. Certainly the hype lead me to expect that it would. But, after installation, and some pretty graphics, I began to experience many unexpected and unwelcome problems.
Great package with plenty of features and options for players of all ages.

Summary: It's almost a 4 1/2 stars, but it got a 4 because I find it's not user-friendly enough for an occasional gamer as myself; also, I was expecting to see an Airbus 380 in the choice of airplanes, but that has to be purchased separately. Also, you do need a real up-to-date computer to run it as it requires a 2,2 mhz system to fully benefit from it. Now the good news.
Summary: I've been a Flight Simulator fan since the pre-Microsoft days when I played it on a Commodore 64. Since then, of course, everything's changed for the better. This purchase, actually was to replace my previous set (lost one of the DVDs when it cracked all the way through to the data layer, rendering the set useless).
