JUST "SO-SO"

dickm, Amazon
6 August 2012
  • Summary: THIS SIMULATOR IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE "2004": VERSION. IT TAKES TOO MUCH ROOM AND YOU MUST HAVE A REALLY GOOD COMPUTER. I HAVE ORDERED THE "2004" VERSION WHICH I BELIEVE TO FUNCTION BETTER.

User Review

JaceN., Metacritic
6 December 2005
  • Summary: Yikes...what a terrible graphics engine. I reckon I could take this game back in time to 1997 and have every viewer go "eww". Dont beleive the minimum specs...you need at least 2Gz, 2048MB RAM and 4GB HD space. And even then theres a standard 7 day working week between input and action.

Not what it should be.

Z. Sheffler, Amazon
23 January 2005
  • Summary: Flight Sim 2004 is well thought out and there are quite a few good features in the package. Rod Machado's flight school is about as good as you can get, and the weather options are great. There are a couple crippling problems with the flight aspect of the game. First off, trimming.

Will not run on some video cards.

  • Summary: I have a toshiba laptop with a nvidea 5200go chip in it. this game will not draw the 2d aircraft panels on the 3d display. Microsoft has identified it and suggests that you go to nvidea's web site to download new drivers.

What is a great PC....what's really needed PC or programing?

Hugh and Dee, Amazon
28 September 2003
  • Summary: Microsoft states the system requirments on the package (are these wrong?)(450mhz,1.8GB HD,Windows 2000/XP etc.) After buying 2004, I find it slow and troublesome. On a 1.8Ghz P4, 256 RAM 40GB HD, it should run like a dream. I am really suprised at the poor quality and graphics.

Marginally better the FS2K2

scout1954, Amazon
25 September 2003
  • Summary: I resisted purchasing this latest release until I read a few months of reviews. As has been stated by a few others, if you do not own FS2K2 go ahead and purchase this. For someone who is using FS2K2 with addon aircraft, scenery, etc, this is not such a sure thing.

Bugs A-Plenty & Not Much New

Amazon
7 August 2003
  • Summary: There is not a lot that I can say that hasn't already been stated by other reviewers. I've made the mistake of buying MS software fresh off of new releases and swore I would never do it again, due to glitches, bugs, lock-ups, etc...

Installation is Louzy

Anders E. Borgeson, Amazon
7 August 2003
  • Summary: The installation was terrible. The instructions on the screan and in the hand out were terrible. Microsoft should be ashamed to put something like that out. It is a real mess. It looks like it will be a good sim but the installation was dam near impossible.

Many Problems

W. Capo, Amazon
3 August 2003
  • Summary: Flight Simulator 2004 has too many bugs on its roll out. I would suggest waiting a while before you purchase FS2004 especially if you own FS2002. The software development team used the same old tired panels that have been used since FS2000 and before.
