FlatOut Ultimate Carnage (PC)
18 July 2009
Conclusion: I assume it's the same control setup as the 360 version. If you can look past the challenging controls and occasional unevenness, Ultimate Carnage is worth picking up, for the sheer comedy of the stunts and the entertainment of the derbies. Whether you buy the PC or Xbox 360 version, if you stick with it, you're going to have fun.
Excerpt: FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage isn't a clever game. It doesn't try to wow you with layers of meaning and plot; it doesn't feature visuals and sound that will have everyone declaring that video games should be treated as art; and it doesn't feature motion capture work from A-list celebrities. BugBear's latest arcade racer is simply a thrilling joyride of a game, complete with stunning visuals and plenty of game modes to get stuck into.
Excerpt: Too much carnage, not enough flatout Flatout Ultimate Carnage has finally been released for PC after coming out on the Xbox 360 last year, and is the third game in the flatout series. Personally, I’ve never played any of the Flatout games, so I’m looking at this release with “fresh” eyes, although a lot of people are talking about how it is very similar (if not too similar) to Flatout 2.
Pros: Looks nice, sounds nice, destruction derby is great fun
Cons: Physics, soundtrack, different modes all feel the same
Excerpt: "FlatOut - Ultimate Carnage on käytännössä vain parannetuilla grafiikoilla, uudella ääniraidalla, sekä muutamalla uudella pelimuodolla höystetty FlatOut 2, eli siis toisin sanoen sinänsä hieman turha ostos FlatOut 2 pelinsä läpitahkonneille. FlatOut 2 peliä tähän asti välttäneille Ultimate Carnage on erittäin suositeltava hankinta, sillä kyseessä on yksinkertaisesti vuoden paras PC:lle julkaistu autopeli.
