Conclusion: Best Intro Movie Ever in the Series - I’d like to get this out of the way real quick, ARR has one of the best intro/world ending movie that I have seen in the series and maybe in any MMO. Titled “End of an Era” it was shown about a year before the release of ARR and marked the end of FF XIV version 1’s end and the start of ARR alpha/beta phases.
What I love about it is that it sets up this sense of dread and despair.
Conclusion: But those moments are fleeting, and tantalising at best. Even if you spend the time to unlock your skills and build that warrior-archer-tank-damager behemoth you had in mind, what's the point if the activities you're engaging in are so threadbare and unappealing for the most part? It's a problem that Square can go some way to fixing with post-launch content updates and dramatic technical overhauls, but given the frailty of any online community within those crucial first...
Excerpt: Three years ago, Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIV Online. In our original review, we blasted the game for its numerous design and gameplay flaws and labeled it an incomplete mess. Rather than abandoning the project, the company responded by going back to the drawing board to completely overhaul the game in an effort to win back the trust and support of its fan base.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Review: Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes
14 September 2013
Excerpt: Final Fantasy XIV was terrible. Imagine my surprise when I bought the Collector's Edition in 2010, only to find out that the game was an absolute mess, full of convoluted mechanics and sloppy gameplay. What Square Enix has done with this mess is something typically reserved for the film industry. Hated the first Hulk movie? That's fine, Hollywood apologizes by rebooting it only a few years later.
Summary: This is an impressive comeback. Hard work and dedication shine through making this an enjoyable experience. Event updates and new content every three months will ensure that this game will keep you actively interested in the world of Eorzea. Give this game a chance - it is worth it.
