Summary: Introduction: in Far Cry, you play as Jack Carver, a guy who's been hired to sail a mysterious woman around the Pacific. However, Jack's ship suddenly comes under attack. After washing ashore on a tropical island, sans the mysterious woman, Carver must investigate his surroundings so that he can find her and eventually rescue her from an army of heavily armed mercenaries.
Summary: Far Cry is a big leap into open world havock, of course the game is dated due to the fact that it was released more then 5 years ago but the fact is that this game was a future look into what open world games would be like. Since its one of the first in its class there are some bugs but you can barley notice them. The game play is very good, but the AI makes it suffer a bit.
Summary: Even though there are several good reviews already here, and this game is already a couple of years old, I still feel compelled to put my two cents in about my favorite game. I've played a number of other first person shooters, but no other game comes even close. In fact, I have trouble playing other FPS's now because they lack so many of the things that make Far Cry exceptional. This game is definitely not for everyone though.
Summary: I just wanted to write and say that, thus far, this game is one of the best games I've ever played. The AI is astonishing, and for the most part, is the reason this game never gets old. Flashy graphics are in EVERY game these days. The challenge is the fun part. The graphics in this game are, and yes to today's standards, very impressive!! I'm not even running at full detail. My jaw dropped at medium (2.8GHz P4, 1Gb RAM, Saphire 9600).
Summary: I am not an avid gamer with an over-built PC. I play these games more as a hobby or means of escape rather than a way of life. I just don't have that kind of time. Far cry is a great game to lose yourself in. The maps are expansive and, with the right video card, full of detail. It takes 5 disks (about 4GB I think) to install the game. Needless to say, the game is large.
Summary: Hello, i think this might be my first review, not sure maybe i've done one ages ago lol. Ok, I am an avid 1st person shooter fan, love the genre and have played anything and everyhting in it pretty much, with the latest being medal of honor PA [i liked it] and chronicles of riddick [suprisingly a masterpeice of the genre] anyways, for this review i will basically compare the big 3 of 2004 which i think most will agree were FC, DOOM3 and HL2.
Summary: Having played and finished all three of the most system demanding FPSs of this year, that being Doom 3, Half Life 2 and Far Cry, I have to give FAR CRY my unequivocal vote for the best of the best award. Why this game over the rest you ask? Fair question, let me explain... There is one thing they all have in common and that's outstanding graphics: on that point there is no question.
It's not just an FPS game, actually it's an action movie!

Summary: Graphics, AI, music... what more can I say? Far Cry shows us the bright future of Crytek engine and its SFX engine. Someone who think it's "boring" maybe should just stop playing FPS games. I don't see enemies or those mutants across the room hit me with their hands, maybe someone should upgrade his video card. Rocket and hand are two totally different things. Checkpoint saving is one of many different kinds of saving methods.
Summary: I recently purchased a new Dell 9100 laptop (2.8 ghz, 512MB RAM, 128MB ATI graphics card) and planned on waiting for HL2 as my first game for the new PC. Finally, I broke down and decided to try FarCry. Now I'm not sure if I'll bother with HL2! Initial thoughts upon playing: I was relieved to find crate-breaking (half-life) was not required. Also, players are limited to four weapons. I love that aspect as it makes me think. I want a game that makes me think.
Summary: This game is amazing if you stick to it, read the instructions and play it on the easiest level. Also you have to have a top of the top of the line video card and computer.. Don't even try it if your computer doesnt have the latest generation of graphic card and cpu, with memory of a gig or so. I have an ATI 9800XT pro... and a 3.2 gig athlon cpu.. 1 gig of ram..It runs great but there is some room for improvement.
