Summary: Ok, so let's start with what I do like so we can get that out of the way quickly. The graphics and settings are amazing. The islands are rendered beautifully with huge draw distances and lush foliage. The gun fights are actually pretty frantic and the vehicles can be cool at times. The game also has a pretty good length, one of the longest FPS games I have played in a while.
Wonderful environment/effects, gameplay is average

Summary: Far Cry is going to be one of those games where either you love it or you uninstall it the first week. I recently invested in a Dell XPS 600 and had no problem playing this game. Those gamers with less than 1GB of RAM may experience difficulty, as the graphics eat up memory. The outdoor environments are wide-scale and really cool during daylight scenes. A better description and screenshots can be found on the official UbiSoft website.
Summary: It may not be the best story ever told, but the game play is great. The general plot is standard--rescue a girl from a mad scientist on an island. The high points are good graphics, amazing scenery, and fun missions. The maps are all different in layout and the missions, though related, do not feel repetitive. So far I haven't seen a map that is not very cool to look at and move through.
Summary: I have to say, being a nerd, going to a nerd school, and having all nerd friends, ive seen, played, and bought ALOT of games. I have enjoyed some of the recent titles, such as HL2 and Doom 3. But i have to say, none of them are as good as this. I purchased this game recently, and i am very VERY happy with it.
Summary: Half-Life 1.5. Enough said!!! Amazing scenery..the whole game takes place on a bunch of deserted tropical islands with beautiful beaches/water/trees and foliage crawling with baddies and then some.. You have boats on the water hunting you with bazookas and Black Hawk choppers on the air that can be called in to dice and slice you if someone raises the alarm.
Summary: I've been into RPG's for a while, so this is the first pure FPS I've played in several months. I'm impressed! I mean really impressed! The graphics and huge maps for each level are mind boggling. I haven't been this blown away by a game's design since Tron. FarCry is a linear shooter without the ridiculuous puzzles and other garbage (like "secret areas", etc.). It's a little like a version of Soldier of Fortune that's finally been put together correctly.
Summary: I'm having great fun with this game despite running it on a mediocre system that can't run the game in full graphical flourish. I have a 2.0Ghz P4, 512Mb RAM and an ATI 9800 (the base model, not Pro or XT) card with 128Mb RAM. So it's decent but hardly cutting edge. Despite the fact that of the eight customizable graphics settings, I have set four to "medium" and four to "low", the graphics are simply the best I've ever seen, on any game at any time.
Summary: (This review is based on the final European DVD edition) First, to get it out of the way: this game is gorgeous, if you've got the system to run it. You'll need a 2.5GHz / 2500+ processor, 1GB RAM, and a high-end DX9 card (R9800 Pro/XT) to get the best quality out of this game. Lower-end systems can still run this game, but you won't be able to appreciate the stunning visuals this game has to offer.
Excerpt: "...diving into waters (which is far more realistic than diving & swimming in previous games). The storyline is just ok, you are a soldier trying to figure out what the korean army is so secretly investigating in the island, which turns out to be some secret alien artifact which will wake up an ancient race, nothing new, yet well acomplished. The gameplay is very good, easy handling of weapons and moving your character around. Weapons are just common ...
Excerpt: "In far cry you play as Jack carver who is a skipper of a charter boat service, he gets washed up on a mysterious chain of islands in micronesia. Here he discovers some very unusual secrets.... Gameplay Although far cry appears to be huge and open ended it is actually quite linear but it gives a good illusion of freedom. There are several vehicles to commandeer such as: jeeps, hang gliders and patrol boats. At the start of the game you fight ...
Pros: Brillian graphics, testing gameplay, solid physics system
Cons: Enemies towards the end of the game spoil it, need a good pc
