Summary: I started Farcry with high hopes for it. It looked good, sounded good and was hailed as one of the best shooters since half-life. I began playing it and found that it was all that was promised. The graphics are just plain stunning, with the absolute largest environments I have seen in any game ever. The enemy AI is creepy smart, and will commonly outsmart and overwhelm you if you don't watch your step.
Conclusion: Great graphics and scenary. This game is best when approached from a tactical point of view. It's not realy a blast um up shooter. There can be some driving about and perhaps a variety of different vehicals requireng control skills would help this. The game though not the best out there is still worth having on the games shelf.
Conclusion: Single player is decent and fun though quite repetitive, sandbox play is good fun. Multiplayer is awful, really not worth the time. Get the game if you want a quick singleplayer blast but stick to the big ones for multiplayer.
Conclusion: With this being the first game on Ubi's new Dunia Engine, I think it was more of a showcase of the engine than aimed at providing an immersive enjoyable gaming experience to the player. If it was meant to be the latter it fell short of the mark.
Conclusion: I didn't play this game until last year. I was never fond of FPS games but a friend urged me to try it. In the beginning I liked it, with stunning graphics (it does not feel 4 years old) and seemingly varied levels. But when the game continues and the Trigens start to appear, the levels don't vary that much. You're inside in some levels, outside (beautiful surroundings) in some, but the feeling I got was "I've done this level before".
Summary: Far Cry is good. It is fun. It is almost great. Why? My biggest gripe with the game is a lack of a save feature. You save at "save points" automatically. You cannot resave at the same points, so they are more of time line saves. I have no idea why this game does not have a save feature. Another small gripe is the lack of a "to-do" or mission list. A few times I had gone away from the game for a week, came back and forgot entirely what I needed to do next.
Excerpt: "...as I never got very far at all in the game. The reason for this, and possibly loads of people who had the misfortune of buying this game, realised how slow it was. After installing a mega 3 GHz of data on to my machine I begin to boot up the game. The title screen of this game is more than impressing as in the background you weave in and out of palm trees on a tropical island. Followed by an also very impressing starting video were you are blown ...
Pros: Packed full of detail and cut scences .
Cons: Slow, boring and nearly all PC's will struggle to play it .
Summary: ...but the game has to be one of the most frustrating first person shooters ever created. First things first: The graphics engine is awesome. This is easily the most beautiful game world ever created. This is true for indoor scenarios, but the engine is especially good with tropical outdoor scenarios. Unfortunately, the save-game system is the worst I have encountered in a long time.
