Summary: Coming from an oldschool gamer, experienced in racers and all other sorts of simulations. First off I want to say that I`m a bit surprised with the user rating. Right out of the box, the game immediately suggests high quality. The order of my paragraphs reflects what I want most with the game. Physics. I`m not an expert on physics, though I have a long experience in sims, especially racing ones.
Excerpt: Speed, realism, the two most important factors for this game. The start of the game already gives you the feeling you're not a player, but a racer. Sit down and be interviewed! When you start a season, you can't begin in a team like Ferrari or McLaren. Start at the bottom and work your way up! That's brilliant isn't it? The graphics are stunning. I've always been a fan of the F1 99-02 challenge series, but F1 2010 kicks this game in the nuts.
Summary: In short words, this game is a BETA. The damage system is worse than psx games, your car is practically a tank even with full damage enabled and you can only break the fornt wing. The IA is stupid, CPU controlled cars runs in the same way in non-timed laps or even with damages, the IA is inconstat between tracks, some are really hard and other really easy, and additionally his qualify are fakes, you can find more info about that in lot of websites.
Summary: The graphics and sounds are very good. The handling of the cars feels right (not that I have any first hand experience). Actually taking part in races is great fun, along with qualifying and practice to improve you car and lap times during the season. It's just sometimes you can get held in the pits as the rest of the field is let through by your pit crew or sometimes the AI cars ignore mandatory pit stops. There are no real game breakers that you can't work around.
Summary: I got the game for my Xbox360 with high hopes and great expectations. I must say that I was not disappointed. The game presentation is very good, graphics is very good, gameplay (driving physics) is fantastic, the weather system is fantastic and the sound of the cars is great. The game modes on offer are good, and the career mode is fantastic. My first team is Lotus and as in real life I always keep a wary eye on my teammate.
Summary: The racing is fun and the game could be great, however it's let down by a lot of things, mostly game-breaking bugs, major oversights and poor development choices. The AI is poor, a lot of supposedly 'random' events are actually scripted, there's a lot of oversights and bugs that put the player at a huge disadvantage and can cause you to go from up the field to the back of the field, and the graphics leave something to be desired.
Summary: An epic failure. That is what you come away thinking after playing a game of F1 2010. It looks great and sounds great.. but that is it. The computer players break the rules and never pit thus assuring they win. And if you dare pit, say while leading the race, you can be assured you will be held in the pits to emerge just in time to fill in at last place. This has been admitted as a real issue by Codemaster and they expect to release a patch for it eventually.
Summary: All in all I think this is a disappointing game. A lot of bugs, an unstable framerate, a highly simplified driving model and an unacceptable delay between the controller and the effective action transform an uber-awaited masterpiece in a burning disappointment.
