Excerpt: Pirates of Black Cove is an action / strategy / RPG hybrid from Nitro Games, a Finnish developer which specializes in seafaring games, including Commander: Conquest of the Americas and East India Company . In this title, you take on the role of a lowly pirate, and after gaining control of your own ship, you work your way through a series of quests to become the pirate king -- which allows you to discover the secrets behind the evil Black Cove pirates and the mysterious...
Excerpt: I recently took a trip overseas. More than half of the trip was completely over water, so there was nothing to look at, and it was one of the most mind numbing and boring experiences I've ever had the umm...pleasure of being a part of. Then, three months after getting off the plane, I was dumped back into the experience, but this time I never left my office.
Excerpt: If you can say one thing about Pirates of Black Cove, it's that it's got a certain charm. You'll find it in the hundreds of toe-curling puns littered throughout the game's version of the Caribbean, you'll find it in the campy but endearing voiceovers of three playable heroes with names like Walker le Planc, and you'll find it in the jaunty rhythms that keep time as you hunt down booty over land and sea.
Excerpt: Europa Universalis is a historically accurate RTS game that recreates 300 years of history from the Age of Discovery in 1492 to Napoleon's rise to power in 1792. The major nations depicted as player countries in the grand campaign (1492-1792) are Spain, Portugal, France, England, Austria, Russia, Denmark-Norway, Sweden, The Ottoman Empire, and Poland-Lithuania. Each has its own particular advantages and disadvantages, and they all play very differently.
Pirates of Black Cove Review | Clearly Not for Landlubbers
9 December 2013
Conclusion: The Short Version: Pirates of Black Cove is stuffed with charm, cartoonish humour and excellent arcade naval combat that provides a lot of fun, once you get going; but it's let down by its land combat, repetitive quests and backtrack padding.
Pros: Ship to ship combat is great, Nice depth to ship upgrades and new models, Roaming the open sea is a lot of fun
Cons: Insipid land combat, There's a lot of needless padding, Takes a while to get going
Conclusion: In the end, Pirates of Black Cove has a jolly style that looks good at first, but quickly wears thin. It strikes me as a game that some might enjoy, perhaps if they have more patience than I do. Nonetheless an asking price of £15 for this minimal offering is simply too much.
Summary: Un'occasione sprecata questo Pirates of Black Cove.
