SOMA review (PC)

HonestGamers
12 October 2015
  • Excerpt: SOMA is science fiction, not horror. Well, okay – it is horror, and it's often very effective at being horror. But that is not why you should play it. Developer Frictional Games knows how to unnerve people, their Amnesia: Dark Descent having ignited an interest in YouTube-fodder jumpfests, and their...

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition

GamesRadar
12 January 2015
  • Conclusion: Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition is a mediocre game that is relying on misty-eyed nostalgia for sales, rather than offering a new spin on 18-years-old content.
  • Pros: Rewind feature, The smooth as silk 60 FPS, Cross-Buy, Cross-Platform play
  • Cons: Laggy multiplayer, No PlayStation TV compatibility for UK users, It's really old now - and it shows

  • Summary: Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition is a re-release of the 1996 original Duke Nukem 3D. For those of you that don’t know about Duke Nukem 3D, it is a first person shooter. It was one of the first FPS that didn’t have a silent main character, but one that spoke and even swore.

Gear Games Retrospective: Duke Nukem 3D (1996, FPS)

Gear Diary
15 June 2011
  • Excerpt: This week we FINALLY get the sequel to the classic 1996 game Duke Nukem 3D. I will be getting a review copy very soon in will have a full review as soon as I can. But in the meantime I thought it appropriate to dig back into the game that launched the 15 year quest for a sequel!
  • Pros: Top notch shooter gameplay; excellent level design; eDuke32 and HRP fan-created wrappers make the game feel thoroughly modern; every bit as fun as it was 15 years ago!
  • Cons: Misogynist content and general sexism places this game back when gaming was very heavily dominated by young single males, and makes it less share-able in a modern context.

Duke Nukem 3D review (PC)

  • Excerpt: While hardcore Doom ites like Blu and I could jabber at you for ages on how that game is the mack-daddy of the FPS until you’re ready to snatch up a shotgun of your own to turn our heads into bloody stumps, we don’t have to.

Duke Nukem: Manhatten Project

The Wargamer
19 August 2002
  • Excerpt: "Ah, the Duke has returned. No, it's not John Wayne, and of course it's not the true sequel, but all the same, Duke Nukem is once again on the PC. As I said, this isn't Duke Nukem Forever (we will see it, one day, I'm sure…I hope…please, not another Daikatana), but it is, perhaps, the next best...

Duke Nukem Atomic is a heck of a fun addition to the original episodes.

GameSpot
26 November 1996
  • Summary: Duke Nukem 3D's popularity really mushroomed after its release earlier this year. Wowing gamers with smooth graphics, innovative weaponry, and its crass-talking, alien-squishing first-person hero, GT Interactive's blockbuster title offered an alternative to 3D staples such as Doom.
