If you are a collector and insist on picking up Dragon’s Lair HD, it will likely supplant your current go-to copy, thanks to the high-definition transfer. But there’s just no reason, fan or not, since you’ve seen it all before and there’s only so much you can polish before you realize that some things from the past are better left there. We’d rather view Dragon’s Lair through the rose-colored glasses of reminiscence and leave the reality of its lame gameplay... Read more

On the whole, Digital Leisure has served up a winner with Dragon’s Lair HD. The quality of animation seen here is unheard of in modern gaming – or many contemporary films, for that matter. A solid soundtrack and simple controls both add to the enjoyment of this title. Granted, the learning curve isn’t as smooth as some might like and particular sequences will have gamers tearing their hair out when they die for the twentieth time. But this very notion captures the... Read more

Everything old is... still old. With the same gameplay of the original 1983 classic, the latest Dragon's Lair game fails to impress in any area. Read more

With so many versions Dragons Lair (and other laser-disc refits), one has to wonder if Digital Leisure hasn't saturated its own little niche. Then again, re-mastering the whole thing in high definition does lend itself to at least one more go, hopefully as an HD-DVD or Blu-ray game. Can't you just smell it? Ya think? Hmmm?! How about it, Digital Leisure... Meanwhile, there's this one, HD for regular DVD but PC DVD-ROM only. Confused yet? Read more

Dragon’s Lair HD is a game for the serious nostalgia buff. If you know of the game then it needs no introduction. If you’re unfamiliar with it then more than likely it’s not for you. The novelty of “playing a cartoon” has worn off in the nearly quarter century since the game first appeared in arcades and the gameplay itself just hasn’t stood up to the test of time. To those of you new to the game, Dragon’s Lair involves watching short video scenes play out... Read more
