Summary: There is a lot of false information floating around on the internet about what kind of super computer you'll need to run Doom 3. Here is what we know: John Carmack, who is programming the graphics of the game, has stated that you'll be able to run Doom 3 with all graphicsdetails at a reasonable framerate (probably around 30 fps) with a Geforce 3. Anything below that (Geforce 2, Radeon DDR) and you will have to turn down a lot of the details to get it to run well.
Summary: Let me get this straight. Doom 3 WAS NOT, I repeat, WAS NOT supposed to have revolutionary gameplay. id Software said so in an interview. So I would like to let the people know, that if you are expecting something different other than run 'n gun, then look elsewhere, because you will not find it here, and you will most likely be dissapointed. If, however, you are expecting just that, then read on. Doom 3 might be the best FPS released this year, along with Far Cry.
Summary: Doom 3(2004). The Third PC Game In The Doom Series. Back in the Early 90's, when the computers where still hitting their stride, and video games were the last thing on people's minds, two revolutionary games were released. Those games were 'Wolfenstein 3D' and 'Doom'. Both games became immensely popular, so it's no surprise numerous sequels have been released for each game. 'Doom 2' was a worthy followup to 'Doom', but brought nothing new to the table.
Summary: Id Software revealed Doom 3 in 1999 to both fanfare and criticism. Id Software promised a thrilling single-player game, some rudimentary multiplayer and of course, a brand new engine from Carmack and Co. I've waited impatiently, and while (without counting the presentation) Doom 3 doesn't break new ground, it follows the norm very well. Id Software has crafted Doom 3 with a rather engaging story, for a first person shooter at least.
Summary: Looking for a great gaming web site filled with tons of reviews and an active message board? HSGamers.com is waiting for you! Visit http://www.hsgamers.com today! ----- Doom 3 is one of the most hyped games of the last several years. For two E3s we’ve seen various videos and images that have sent a shockwave through the gaming community. How could they not, after all, considering the brand new graphics engine that the game features?
Summary: Doom was a game that kept thousands of gamers playing until the wee small hours for quite a few years during the early to mid 90's. Even today you'll find a lot of websites that still support the classic versions of Doom, and offer such things as 3D accelerated graphics engines and 3D model replacements for the dated looking sprites that were used in the games. It was a classic and always will be.
Summary: It's amazing how many people have criticized this game for being something that it isn't. It's not a tactical first person shooter, although some tactics will go a long way in your survival. Others have criticized the lack of "alt-fire" modes, which have become standard in other FPS's but not in Doom. Quite frankly, in most firearms, there is not any other way to fire the weapon (with the exception of full auto and burst modes on some automatic weapons).
Summary: I've seen some scathing reviews on this game here. Some go into so much length you won't even finish reading them. I don't see what the problem is, myself. I have an ATHLON XP 2800 with a GeForce FX 5600 and a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ,plus 512 meg of DDR ram, and this thing ran perfectly. Even on 1024X768 with *most* of the features turned all the way up. As far as fear factor, give me a break guys! I catch myself jumping every couple of minutes.
Summary: Doom 3 wasn't worth the hype or bs wait. It's a good game. But it's not a great game. You can wait for this one to go on sale. The graphics are a nice taste of things to come but the gameplay is pretty lame. It doesn't have the feel of the original Doom games and it's not supposed to. As I'm sure you've heard, the storyline is crap. That is very true. The characters are cool and the voice acting is great...
