Excerpt: The other day, I was standing in the middle of nowhere, minding my own business, and I got stuck. I just couldn’t move: I couldn’t crouch, I couldn’t jump, I couldn’t run, I couldn’t walk. I was certainly in a pickle. What could I do? I turned around to talk to my friends, but they were no help. I stood there, looking at them for assistance, but they just stood there with placid, hopeless expressions on their faces.
Excerpt: Devastation is a dark and moody, realistically styled post-apocalyptic first person shooter that focuses on team combat. It throws you into this really messed up version of Earth seventy-two years from now, where you and your NPC teammates, a small group of Resistance fighters made up of gang leaders, mercenaries and ex-military operatives, go up against the menacing forces of an evil empire and mega-corporations. The main objectives are simple.
Conclusion: Wrap-Up: Devastation is absolutely gorgeous, and has some darn fun toys in it. Once the multiplayer gets fixed (As this review is being edited a patch was released to provide a better multiplayer experience), playing it with friends online could only be better, not that you can't now, but there are some needed changes. For the price, the game is worth it, but definitely has it's share of problems. All in all, Devastation is a good, solid game......
Excerpt: "Stunning graphics, high-speed action, and a choice of over 40 weapons highlight the latest first-person shooter based on the tried and true Unreal Engine. But does the gameplay of Devastation stand out in the sea of FPS games that are out on the market?
Excerpt: What is Devastation? There are two answers. In gaming terms, it’s a team versus team game in the vein of Counterstrike, Tribes, Battlefield 1942, so on and so forth, only it actually has a single player component (that isn’t a tutorial). In story terms, Devastation takes place in the not too distant future of corporate tyranny. Instead of oppressive world governments, the CEOs and board of directors have put a yolk on the population, with rebel factions fighting back.
Excerpt: If nothing else, Devastation is ambitious. Digitalo Studios' futuristic first-person shooter features more than 35 weapons, arcade-style and tactical modes of play, computer-controlled teammates, a detailed physics model, and single-player missions that incorporate "botmatch"-style base attack and defense objectives (that is, both you and your opponents are aided by computer-controlled "bot" characters).
Excerpt: To tell the truth, before playing the demo of Devastation, I have never even heard of it. I’m sure I have read a news clip about it somewhere, but it never showed me any interest so I ignored it. This gave me the chance to look at Devastation with unknowing eyes, which were highly impressed. For a new company, Digitalo has achieved themselves as a potential competitor in the gaming industry.
