Conclusion: Detour is to RTS as Speed Chess is to Chess BUT with one caveat. Detour has no single player, well it does but it’s not worth it at all. It serves only as a method to introduce you to the game. Outside of that, the AI is pretty worthless and the story that exists isn’t compelling. Since this is a multiplayer focused title, it’s a catch 22. Thankfully Detour does have a four pack available on Steam and I would recommend if you were thinking about picking this game up...
Summary: Detour is a road-oriented Real-Time Strategy game that takes a satirical twist on highway construction, environmental activist groups, and cartoon humor. Players compete against each other and/or AI opponents to outsmart and out-build them.
Excerpt: DETOUR is a real-time strategy game that sees players wanting to get from point A to point B faster than the opposition with the promise and allure of sabotage getting in the way. When players land on the main menu, they might notice that the keyboard can’t be used for navigation on it or any of its sub-menus (and others around the game) - a mouse will need to be used. If players can successfully launch a game… DETOUR’S sense of humor and potential for fun are apparent.
