Summary: If you are looking for a game this has a game mode. If, however, you are one of those people that has to start on the most difficult level and have never flown a real aircraft before get ready for days of frustration. A real A-10 pilot is about the only person that is going to be able to get good at this game in a few days. It is the actual PC based trainer the Air Force uses for the A-10. The graphics are awesome and the learning curve is steep.
Summary: over all like the training instruction, both ground / air. great scenery. However the booklet sorely lacks information to go with the training, flying , and weapons instruction, to be used to carry out tasks, very little cockpit layout, no checklists etc. too much of the booklet is on the EULA etc, and very little on the operation of the airplane, such a waste. So the product is shelved. P.W.
Very sophisticated simulator - not for the causal flyer.

Summary: To be fair to the developers this is a well designed simulator and the rating is not reflective of the quality rather its complexity. This simulator is designed with realism in mind. If you are a causal sim user and like to be able to quickly get in and fly, this simulator is not for you. If you do plan to buy this simulator be prepared to really "learn" how the A-10 is operated through a comprehensive ground school and flight manual.
Summary: This game is not a game to just start up and play. This is a SIMULATOR! Almost every button in the cockpit is clickable. A lot to remember. It took me a month or two to get ahold of most of the weapons systems, memorize the startup procedure, etc. This is also NOT a game for you if you don't have a dedicated joystick. My current joystick is the Logitech Xtreme 3D Pro. If you are looking for a cheap but reliable joystick, the 3D Pro is the one for you.
Summary: Great game, hard to learn and IL2-Sturmovic 1946 is STILL the greatest Aerial Combat game ever made. If you buy any of these out of the box then be prepared for many patch updates and upgrades. UBISOFT likes to take credit for IL2 which they did introduce but it was all the private programers that made it what it is. BE CAREFUL of the download sites for the games AND the patches because some have viruses that are almost im- possible to remove.
