  • Summary: Darkout is difficult to control and overwhelms the player with complexity instead of providing a sane tutorial. This game is a good example of how a small studio can create something beautiful that fundamentally fails at being fun.

Darkout Review by Dad's Gaming Addiction

Dad's Gaming Addiction, Amazon
24 December 2013
  • Summary: “Darkout” has the potential to be an enjoyable experience IF you have the patience to learn its ins and outs. A better tutorial and more in-game help would be most welcome. As it stands, “Darkout” is both fun and frustrating, especially when you’re actively trying to learn and accomplish something.

  • Summary: people who are giving this fantastic game low ratings, fail to understand the simple controls. it's beyond me how they cant understand simple controls. but enough of that. • Summary: Darkout is an amazing game and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I've played Minecraft and Terraria before, and I really liked them both for what they are, but Minecraft lacks focus and Terraria is more in line with a 'Metroidvania with crafting' than a survival game.

Tariq A. Ali "Avatar", Amazon
2 September 2013
  • Summary: The game is still "technically in beta" end game has not been put in yet and a lot of functionality is missing but if you like sandbox building games like Terraria give this a try at least until Starbound comes out.

Entertaining for hours on end

Michael Thaller, Amazon
21 July 2013
  • Summary: Darkout is that tricky mix of combat and building that, when done right, will send a chill down your spine. And make no mistakes, Darkout was done right! If you liked terraria you will probably like Darkout...

Showing Promise!

Brett, Amazon
23 June 2013
  • Summary: Darkout is really starting to show some real promise! I love this type of gameplay and the graphic style is beautiful. If you enjoy exploring, mining, digging, and crafting then you really cant go wrong with this title! This game will make it to Steam but it's absolutely worth buying now in beta.

  • Summary: I was looking for another Terraria, or Starbound. This game is unfinished and boring. I wish was better, and had some kind of multiplayer.

Unfinished, buggy game.

Quentin Richard Rex Schilling, Amazon
24 May 2013
  • Summary: I had great hopes for this one being a minecraft and terraria lover, but although the graphics are nice, the gameplay is extremely buggy right from the beginning. the ship is supposed to act like a chest with starting equipment but even following the instructions online, it just wouldn't respond 90%...
