Summary: Upon purchase you will receive an unplayable game, and will have to download multiple community made programs, mods, and addons to experience the game you paid for. They know they did a terrible job porting this game to pc, and have said they will do better next time.
Summary: Dark Souls is a great game. I am a PC gamer but I have this one on PS3, when they ported it to PC it was almost a dream so I grabbed it... bad idea. First issue: Games for Windows LIVE... Second issue: even with a top-spec PC the game looks awful, won't go up from 720p and 30fps without mods, and even with the mods the game becomes really unstable.
Summary: This game uses games for Windows live, which is an absolutely horrible DRM model. I was unable to log into my account or redeem the game after purchasing it. Do not waste your money, you will just have to end up returning it.
Summary: I really wanted to play this game so when I saw it on sale it was pretty exciting. Little did I know this was just an absolutely horrible console port; even the starting tutorial directions are still for the xbox 360 (for example, telling you to hit the green "A" button, or "start" button on PC). This is a terribly disappointing port for a great game - the developers seemed to have spend NO effort on making this an actual PC version game.
Summary: If you are running Windows 8, the game is unplayable in the state that you receive it. If it was a known issue, why didn't they add the files in with the Steam download, give an explanation of how to fix, or fix it ahead of time?
Summary: Dark Souls is an amazing game. It's hard, but fair, and one of the most rewarding experiences in modern gaming. Prepare to Die edition is a sham. If you want to play this game, do yourself a favor and just play it on the PS3. Even after using DSfix, it's not a game worth playing on PC. YOu are faced with terrible terrible control schemes, unresponsive commands, and tons of tweaking just to get the game to the point that you can even make a new character.
