Company of Heros: Opposing Fronts

Summary: As a big fan of Company of Heros and WWII history, I wanted to try this version. I saw all the nightmare stories about the pain installing, patching, and getting this game to run, but I tried it anyway. Big Mistake! It took forever to get it so the game would run and once I did finally got it installed, I found I could no longer play the original C of H since installing the new game did something.
Summary: Game play is good, could be better. The game is hard to get installed on windows vista. I like to play single player games and this one makes you get set up to play online I had to uninstall Company of Heros just so I could install Company of Heros Opposing Fronts. After 5 hours of getting it installed and all the updates installed (378.27mb. I got to try the game. In my book its not as good as Company of Heros.
If you EVER get the game installed and running ...

Summary: I thought Company of Heroes was difficult to install but CoH:Opposing Force takes things to a whole new level. How about an expansion that requires you to uninstall the original game but does not tell you that? Installation instructions that ignore known issues? Hours of mandatory patching after installation? One of the least helpful technical support pages on the internet? There's more, much more. You may NEVER get this game running.
Summary: Very FUN game when i can play longer than 5 minutes without crashing...see below...As soon as the game loaded a very large patch is required, now i think their is an additional patch which i also downloaded. It is very large and takes time even with highspeed cable. Once i had everything installed and patched my problems started. I had been playing Company of heroes and had not had any problems in single player and online multiplayer.
Summary: Company of Heroes was one of our favorite RTS's to play, definitely the best RTS to date. Very stable, very fun. Opposing Fronts, the follow on, is a good game, but was released too early without adequate testing. Even after the latest patches, my buddy, brother and I experience a lot of bad system crashes while playing. Relic's support continually blame this on drivers, but we're all running the very latest. It's the game, Relic.
Summary: Opposing fronts is a stand alone add on to the original COH game. First of all, I've had comapny of heroes for a while and it is brilliant, interesting, varied and has two well balanced sides and a wealth of units you can use for different applications each with individual skills and upgrades. Opposing fronts adds two new armys to the mix, the british and the german panzer elite.
Summary: This is quite a good game once you get playing. The graphics are good, the gameplay is OK and the portrayal of the Brits (and the language) is notable for not being the Lah-di-dah stereotype. BUT it barely works. Have a good book handy. You'll get through a couple of pages while it decides to load, then a few more when you have to down load a patch for online gaming even if that doesn't interest you at all - you're not asked!, quit the game and load the patch.
Summary: If you are a fan of Company of Heroes this game at first seems a must. I must earnestly warn anyone out there who is thinking of buying this game to know this, that you will be pulling your hair out in clumps with shear rage at how hard this is to install and run, when and if your get it running it is properly fun but then a few days later you'll be back to where you started.
