Do not waste your money
7 August 2011
Summary: When you install the game you will receive an infinite loop asking for donwloading a patch again and again and again. I searched about this problem and found a lot of people with this trouble. In order to make things worse, Amazon will ask you to donwload it again and to re install it again. It just won't function. Just save your money. Do not buy it.
Summary: During installation the system required several patches to be downloaded and installed. These patches were necessary for playing the online game. No option was available to just install the game, the patches had to be downloaded and installed as part of the initial install. The process was slow and after seven such patches a "patch downloader installer program" was included. Had hopes that this would speed up the process but no such luck.
Summary: Enjoyed Company of heros but Company of heros Opposing Force is an instalation nightmare.. Before you can even get a look at the game you have to go through series of downloads some of which are over 100MB for a total of over 471MB once that is finaly finished you would think finaly you can see the game NO YOU STILL need another download it does not give the MB but takes 1 hour and 46 minutes useing high speed dsl...this really turns me off THQ/rrelic.
Summary: COH the original is fantastic. Love that version. This one with it's PATCH HELL...is just that. HELL. Stay as far away from this version and the JOKER who crated this mess ([....]) as possible. Give us a [....] break already with your non-pirate B.S.. We just want to play a game, not contend with nightmares of non-sequential updates/patches. This blows.
Summary: I usually disregard Amazon reviews of video games because they always seem overly negative and repetitive about bugs I never find in the game... that is not the case with COH OF. I played the first COH by disconnecting my internet whenever I played the game in order to avoide the online fiasco; however, this time I decided I wanted to play the game online(I did try my hand at disconnecting my internet to skip to single-player and the game read: "No Validated media" or...
Summary: Spent many hours trying to install and play this game with out ever getting it to work. Contact with the game techs over several days only caused more frustration. Never got the game to run and will never buy and game from this publisher.
Summary: I am on my second try installing this thing. The first time I tried I had to download HUGE patch after patch and never did get it to work. Seems like it broke my original COH too. Ended up uninstalling both games and trying just installing COH:OP. Be aware that they absolutely require you to sign up for online gaming to get through the install. Unless your idea of fun is fighting with the computer to get your game installed, stay away from this dog.
Summary: The first CoH is an awesome game, but this follow-up is a big disappointment. There is so much anti-piracy junk in the way of just playing the game. When I finally got all the patches downloaded, it won't take my key online because it says that it is already being used! And customer support is nowhere to be found. So now I can't play my game online and I can't return the game because it is already opened. I will *never* buy a game from THQ again.
Summary: I bought this game after having really enjoyed the first CoH. It was a truly innovation on strategy games, no more silly minerals to mine! The first CoH had some minor technical issues but the company worked them out and got the game running just fine. So I decided to give CoH Opposing Fronts a try. It was a total waste of time and money. My machine was a month old top-of-the-line souped up laptop. 4 GB of RAM, dual core centrino, 512 MB of video.
Summary: I have yet to even play this game due to the EXTREMELY long patching process. It is seriously on patch number 5 right now. WTF!!! I have been literally been installing this game well past the 2 hour mark. I have high speed internet and a super speedy gaming rig. This patching nonsense is for the birds. I dont care HOW fun this game is, it will always be tarnished by the most excruciating installation in the history of PC games.
