Summary: This game may be enjoyable to those who will want to invest a large amount of time in to something that tends to crawl at a very slow pace. Trade mechanics are solid and the naval battles are ok but after a while it gets quite repetitive and feels like you have nothing to do. A real lack of a basic guide will mean you will miss things which are required in some cases.
Summary: This game is enjoyable. Currently playing with both DLC packs and presumably after some bug fixes. It is a very high-level, macro view overall. Fleet battles can be fought on an individual or more RTS level and can be quite enjoyable. Movement through the quite tedious and slow periods is easily mitigated with the battle speed control, adjustable from 1x to 10x. Trade is a bit flawed as was mentioned in some previous reviews.
Summary: Of the games I've recently purchased, I have found this very much to my liking. The 4 advisors are an interesting twist, sometimes helpful, sometimes irksome, but I find their dialogue mostly constructive, directive. A very satisfying game for my level of experience with strategy games. I appreciate the open ended process of this storyline and the changing locations of the colonial sites make this game very replayable.
Summary: I really like this game i just wish the downloaded expansion would work and that there was a quick start guide in the box there is a pdf on the dvd but it is over 30 pages long and not tabbed to jump to different sections but all in all it is fun if you like strategy games so far the AI has beaten me several times and there is a bit of a learning curve. I hope to soon go on line to play against others.
Summary: Just got the game and discovered it required Steam to activate. There is no mention of this on Amazon.com. I will not buy any game that requires online activation. This will not get installed. I'm extremely upset. I checked a digital download site and it said the game was DRM free. I guess only the DVD versions need Steam. Why don't they list system requirements for games?
Summary: I tried to play this, but it has absolutely no hint of what to do. Me personally I'm sick of companies selling games and people having to get all over the internet to learn what to do next and such. I understand the objectives and all, but just try to figure out how.
Summary: Really did not expect much out of this game, but surprisingly, I like it. Best described as a mix of games that are out there, little civilization, a bit of tradewinds or pirate hunter. You take command of colonizing the new world for one of 4 major powers. Earn coins by trading with your home country, bring colonists back to the new world to grow your settlements.
