Summary: Program lacks the excitement of past civ games. Improved graphics, but sacrificed this for less action. Used to play old civ games for hours, and look forward to more action. This one is boring.
Summary: I have played every version of civ. This is the worst. Every game has their learning curve but this failed to hold my interest. I didn't feel I had much control or the choices I made made a difference. I don't like the one unit per space and gave the feel of a tactical game on a strategic map.
Summary: One of the main draws of advertisement was the amazing detail in the animations and with mine the diplomats are still frame. I don't know if that was the game itself or just my copy. I also don't like the game play, that's just my opinion, it's too tedious and extremely repetitive. The outcome is a little interesting each time but you do the same thing to get there. Otherwise it's a well thought out game that had its reputation built too high for clear judgement.
Summary: Don't know if Steam is to blame, but I have my suspicions. Scares me to death about upcoming RTW2
Pros: Ranged attack nicely done
Cons: Fatihfully followed Civ series since inception. Wasn't too thrilled about Civ4, held off on Civ5 because of Steam. Repeated crashes on stable and highend system. Waste of money even on discount. Goodbye Civilization.
Summary: The best thing about this game is the beauty of it but it ends there. The game is slow with very predictable civs. With the 5th edition of this great franchise I was expecting better layouts of civs beginning with the number of leaders to the units inside and I was very disappointed with how few civs came with the original game. I am a diehard civ fan but will not waste my time purchasing expansions that should have come with the original.
