Summary: This was a great game when it first came out. I started playing it in Beta and loved the direction it seemed to be headed. The only major flaw I saw to early game play was that "Super Groups" were poorly implemented and of little use. Aside from that it was an awesome game. But somewhere along the line the visions of the developers ran contrary to the legions of fans.
Summary: I started playing CoH in October of 2004. It was easily the most addicting gaming experience I'd ever had. I bought it on a Friday evening and played it so much that I didn't actually sleep until Sunday night (true story). Due to developer-induced changes, the experience is nothing close to what it once was... Had the game never been altered since then, I'd recommend it with a 5 star rating without thinking twice. [b]Now I advise you to spend your money elsewhere!
Summary: There are some things you should know about me before reading this so you know where I come from. I'm both a video game enthusiast and a super hero buff. I've played this game from July of 2004 to October of 2005, and I have even been beta testing its sister game, City of Villains, over the past two weeks. I've led several other people to play this game based on my early experiences with it, and yes, I loved it early on. First, the good stuff.
Excerpt: "When City of Heroes hit the downtown streets of the underground roleplaying scene in 2005 it made many masked heads turn. It was an interesting concept to release a dedicated MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) based around super heroes set in a comic book world. Would it fail to live up to its super power expectations, though? There was a mad rush of RPG fans going crazy when this game was about to get released - we could ...
Pros: excellent character creation possibilities and the chance to dress up in spandex
Cons: not enough to keep your average RPG fan coming back for more
Summary: I was over at my friend's house, and he has City of Heroes. Of course I wanted to play it. When i first started I was impressedwith the Character Creation screen, this was one of the best character screens i have seen. After I made my character the troble started. I started to play the tutorial. The tutorial was SOOOOOOOOOO long. I thought it would never end. Finaly when i finished it i started playing in my first city.
Summary: I had been waiting for this game for a long time. This was an awesome game, for the first week. After that it starts to get really repetitive and pretty boring. Right now I am stuck with a 6 month subscription because they don't give refunds and's what's worse is I can't go trade this game in because once the CD Key is used it can't be used again. So I make a new super hero, have fun with them for about an hour, then the boredom sets in again.
Summary: I had really high hopes for this game. And, at first, this game didn't let me down. I mean, the price of the game seemed a bit steep, but the graphics were awesome, and the character creation screen was by far the best I've ever seen. And then they put me into this beautifully rendered comic-book city that just had a fantastic atmosphere... almost puts you right in the comic book. Exactly like it's supposed to. And so I actually enjoyed this game for about two days.
