Summary: It's been awhile since I have played a good city builder. I'll admit that it can be a hard genre to sell, and we don't see a whole lot of them today. Thankfully, Cities XL 2012 is out, and it's a great expansion to Cities XL 2011. If you already own 2011 , you can pick up 2012 for just $14.99.
Summary: Cities XL 2012 is mediocre if anything. There is plenty to do in the game, but it’s also frustrating. If you love building stuff in games then you may want to check it out, provided you can get it at a reduced price.
Summary: Playing a virtual mayor may be a lot more enjoyable than doing it in the real world. Cities XL 2012 simplifies the messy rigmarole that comes with running a municipality; you eliminate things like labor problems, uptight councillors, and calls from angry residents about raccoons getting into garbage...
Pros: Streamlined take on city building focusing on zoning, not individual buildings, Wide-open sandbox missions set in varied terrain, Adds a fair number of new buildings and maps to Cities XL 2011
Cons: Virtually the same game as Cities XL 2011, Annoying issues with resources and trading, Performance problems with larger cities
Conclusion: My answer for those who played the previous games is no - unless you’re absolutely hurting for a city simulation and management title. If you’ve never played either of the two previous Cities XL titles this is a much better value proposition and more worth your time – as long as you understand this...
Conclusion: So after 6-7 hours of play, you’re left with a stark choice. Either abandon the city you’ve invested to much time in to go and create another city and start all over again, or find a map type that facilitates *all* of the various essentials that make up modern life and give it another go.
Summary: Cities XL 2012 leverer ikke særlig mye nytt i forhold til sine to forgjengere, men så kan det til gjengjeld kjøpes som en nedlastbar ekspansjon for alle som allerede har investert i den forrige utgaven.
