Test Ceville

Generation NT

Ceville

ablegamers.com
29 January 2013
  • Excerpt: Ceville is a point and click adventure game done in similar style to games like Grim Fandango or Escape from Monkey Island. The premise is fairly simple; the tyrant king Ceville (who has a Napoleonic complex) is being overthrown by an angry mob of town people. The player’s job is to guide Ceville (and a few other characters) through various environments by solving puzzles.

Ceville

  • Conclusion: All in all though, Ceville is a light-hearted, easy going adventure that pays homage to the games of old. Hardcore fans of the genre will most likely feel right at home, and the difficulty factor, plus helpful tool tips will mean that even newcomers will find it easy to get into. That being said however, with the current triple A titles focusing on more modernized genres and settings, it’s unlikely that this game will garner a big audience, especially outside of Germany.

  • Excerpt: Ceville, an adventure game from German publisher Kalypso Media, is an oddity. You play the self-confessed villain, but not the usual antihero who will eventually redeem himself as the narrative progresses. Rather, the tyrannical, pintsized leader of Faeryanis is only relatively good because the antagonist in the story is even worse! He also does not develop as a character much either, staying the same stereotypical grouch to the end.

Expert Review

Adventure Gamers
13 March 2009
  • Conclusion: Despite a few awkward moments and the scarcity of thigh-slapping comedy, Ceville is nevertheless one of the better recent comic adventures, with excellent cartoony graphics and delightful music combining with the irreverent humor to add much to the whimsical nature of the game. Apart from the slight twist of controlling a very non-traditional protagonist, the storyline itself is very conventional and offers nothing really unique, as can be said of the gameplay driving...

Ceville PC Review

DarkZero
19 March 2009
  • Excerpt: Point and click games appear to be making something of a resurgence, and Ceville the tiny tyrant is the latest new face to enter this longstanding genre. Unlike most adventure game leads, Ceville’s evil personality offers a refreshing perspective to the storytelling. The citizens of Faeryanis have had enough, and have ousted Ceville from his throne.
