Summary: Brink is in my opinion destined for mediocrity if it doesn’t shape up with further development, DLC and additional content added. There is an extremely solid foundation upon which the game can be further built, but work needs to be done.
Excerpt: Emberwind is an adorable game, that much is certain. It seems to pay homage to the multitude of platformers many of us played all those years ago when consoles didn’t know what HD was, when you knew what console was better because of how many bits it had, and when blast processing seemed like a neat idea. This feeling of nostalgia is sullied by the fact that you play a gnome.
Conclusion: The Short Version: Splash Damage have attempted to make their unique brand of multiplayer shootage more accessible to the masses with only limited success. Still a great team romp, but chokepoints are too obvious and frequent.
Pros: Focuses on teamwork, Massive scope for customising your character, Might only be 8 maps on paper, but that doesn't tell the whole story
Cons: Bots don't push for the objectives, Still hard for casual players to 'get', Plot sadly will be ignored by nearly all
Excerpt: From the creators of Enemy Territory, Brink is a first-person shooter that seeks to blur the singleplayer and multiplayer experience. Don't write the game off for a handful of flaws, underneath some superfluous features is a highly balanced multiplayer experience.
Pros: Finely balanced maps and classes. Unique art direction.
Summary: Bromley boys Splash Damage deliver the guns and goods this month with Brink, its follow up to the bombastic Enemy Territory: QUAKE. The result is a kinetically paced killer stab at a fresh intellectual property that – while featuring a single player mode – stands toe-to-toe with the big boys of the multiplayer world.
Pros: Strak level ontwerp, Je moet echt samenwerken, SMART systeem werkt super, Unieke grafische stijl, In multiplayer heel erg tof
Cons: Single- en multiplayer niet 100% geïntegreerd, AI frustreert enorm, Paar levels niet in balans
