Click here to jump to the moral content! Borderlands is a unique first-person shooter (FPS) and role-playing game (RPG) hybrid from Gearbox Software. While other games combine a first-person perspective with a role playing game, or the other way around, Borderlands is unique among these. It combines a substantial set of main plot and side-quests, and other RPG mainstays, like character growth and advancement, with full-blown FPS gameplay. Read more

No complaint can be leveled against the presentation of the game, however. From the awesome Green Day themed backgrounds to the band members' virtual representations, this is the best looking Rock Band to date. The animation is spot on, the on-stage pyrotechnics are breathtaking and ultimately it is a great, if slightly stylized representation of the band playing live. Read more

    • Best looking Rock Band to date, includes the hit albums Dookie and American Idiot in their entirety, all songs are exportable to the core Rock Band games.
    • Majority of music is from just three albums, lack of career narrative is disappointing.

'A bazillion weapons'. That was Gearbox's big claim for Borderlands, that it contained so many random combinations of weapon parts, damage settings and modifiers that no two players would encounter the same weapons. In a world of 'two guns at a time' first-person shooters and grind-fest MMOs, an almost infinite number of weapons makes a surprising change, but as a key feature for the game? It sells Borderlands very, very short. Read more

I could go into so many more details about combat, customization, fast travel, vehicle joyriding, Second Wind, DNA Reanimation, the HUD, the maps, and inventory navigation, etc. However, why bore you with minutia? Simply know that Borderlands is a deep and engaging, RPG-shooter hybrid that needs to be played to be fully appreciated. Blending the best elements from games such as Fallout 3 and Diablo II, Gearbox and 2K Games have put together a real winner. Read more

It's easy to create a wishlist of features Gearbox probably could have added given enough time, but when I get in game, I forget about all that and instead find myself hunting down the the next epic gun, taking out multiple enemies with headshots, and enjoying the pop culture and video game references (everything from Diablo and Halo to Quentin Tarantino and Judd Apatow movies are in there). Borderlands proved to be one of the best games of 2009, and for those who missed out, this is your chance to find out what everyone else has been talking about. There’s very little not to like about Borderlands, and a ton of things to love. The co-op is great, there’s loot everywhere, tons of weapons, huge, vast worlds, slews of enemies, vehicular combat and a zany cast of characters. The game has a great sense of humor about itself and isn’t afraid to admit it. Read more

  1. Unsurpassed Deal and Great Game

The deal comes with the full game, and all 4 DLCs. That's a $120 value for less than $3. At least that's how much it cost during the holidays. Regardles if you're paying 3 or 15 dollars it's still an unbeatable deal. The only downside is that it's an internet download and if you have a slow connection prepare for a very long download. Roughly 24 hrs or more. The game itself is fun and addicting in singleplayer and multiplayer. The DLC is meaty and worth the buy. Read more or see product

The game itself is awesome, fun, and is a stable application, but it needs real servers. Truthfully when writing the pros above, I ran out of room, but please make a dedicated server application so that people can at least host their own. Connecting to other people's games is just too laggy and unreliable. It takes additional processor power to run a server and a game on the same machine even if it's only for 4 players.. The stats, the class mods, the bots. Read more

I have never been a fan of what I call the 'solitary shooter' and the thought of playing another game where I just run around a corridor shooting bad guys in a darkened room wasn't very appealing. Thankfully 'Borderlands' is nothing like. The premise of the game is rather simple, you are tasked with finding a mythical vault which contains an assortment of weapons of extreme power. Read more

You have the choice of four classes: Berzerker, Siren, Soldier and Hunter.  Each of those classes offers a Diablo styled tech tree where skill points can be allocated for certain trait advantages.  If you want to be a sharpshooter, invest in your sniper rifle skill.  If you want to heal quickly, there is a skill for that.  These skills are fairly standard in the RPG arena.
