Excerpt: If reviewing videogames has taught me one thing, it's that I really shouldn't be impressed by a good idea. All too often games start with a great idea, and then run it into the ground with terrible execution. Bet on Soldier: Blood Money is one such game. It takes the relatively exciting idea of brutal murder being structured as sport and televised as mass media entertainment, and does absolutely nothing interesting with it, just like The Killing Game Show, Flashback, and...
Excerpt: Bet on Soldier is a first person shooter game being developed by Kylotonn and was released on September 26, 2005. Bet on Soldier is set in a futuristic setting where you play as a mercenary. Before each mission you will have to buy your load-out, counter-strike style, hire a side- kick (who can be a sniper, grunt mechanic and so on) and choose the end boss. Pros: Smooth gameplay keeps you coming back for more
Cons: Smooth gameplay keeps you coming back for more
Excerpt: The curiously named Bet on Soldier may not be the most anticipated game of the year, but it has won the backing of both AMD and Microsoft, who are bundling the title with the new AMD 64 processors and selected Microsoft hardware. Developed by the French software house Kylotonn and published by Digital Jesters, the game promised to give the player a new perspective on the already crowded FPS genre.
Excerpt: Bet on Soldier is a sci-fi first person shooter from developer Kylotonn Entertainment (Iron Storm makers) and publisher Digital Jesters. Eighty years before, a war was begun. Two federations have it down to a business and economic model - jobs, money, livelihoods are all dependant on the war. The war is fought by two federations trying to increase their profit from the war.
Excerpt: First person shooters are not easy games to make. The genre has been around for a while and it seems like the chances of a developer coming out with a new smash hit grow smaller every year. The balance between gameplay and graphics is one reason for this problem. There are FPS games with beautiful graphics, but suffering from average to substandard gameplay. At the opposite end of the spectrum, there are FPS games with great gameplay but lackluster graphics.
Excerpt: Bet on Soldier: Blood Sport is a futuristic first person shooter filled to the brim with nonstop action. Taking the role of Nolan Daneworth, the hero will find himself battling as a part of an elite crew to avenge his fallen fiancé. Utilizing the KT graphics engine, Bet on Soldier will captivate you from the start with its unique blend of RPG, FPS, and strategy elements and will constantly keep you on the edge of your seat.
Excerpt: Superbike racing is one of the lesser known sports for the most part. However, the Isle of Man TT is infamous for high speed thrills at breakneck speeds with over 37 miles of pavement designated for racing. From 125CC engines all the way to 1000CC and even sidecars, Suzuki TT Superbikes is the perfect racing game for anyone who owns a crotch rocket in real life, and even if you don’t the realistic effects will make it feel like you own one!
Conclusion: Overall B.O.S struggles to find its place in this most over-crowded of genres. With other games like Half Life 2, Doom 3 and now Quake 4 on the shelf next to it there’s nothing here that stands out at all. But if you’re a FPS nut who’s tried the best, now try the rest.
Pros: Looks nice enough, Interesting betting system
