Excerpt: If reviewing videogames has taught me one thing, it's that I really shouldn't be impressed by a good idea. All too often games start with a great idea, and then run it into the ground with terrible execution. Bet on Soldier: Blood Money is one such game.
Excerpt: The information, movies and previews surrounding Bet on Soldier had awakened the interest of this FPS lover more than normal. The concept where you can bet on the outcome of bloody encounters to afterwards buy new weapons, ammo and armor with your profits really sounded great.
Excerpt: The curiously named Bet on Soldier may not be the most anticipated game of the year, but it has won the backing of both AMD and Microsoft, who are bundling the title with the new AMD 64 processors and selected Microsoft hardware.
Excerpt: Bet on Soldier was originally released in 2005 for PC. The publishers went bankrupt shortly after publishing the game. Microids has picked up the rights and recently released this game on Steam. Unfortunately, the Steam version does not include the expansion packs or functional online multiplayer.
Pros: Challenging combat system
Cons: Graphics are dated and pixelated; multiplayer component obsolete and non-functional; dumb AI
Excerpt: Bet on Soldier is a sci-fi first person shooter from developer Kylotonn Entertainment (Iron Storm makers) and publisher Digital Jesters. Eighty years before, a war was begun. Two federations have it down to a business and economic model - jobs, money, livelihoods are all dependant on the war.
Excerpt: Bet on Soldier: Blood Sport is a futuristic first person shooter filled to the brim with nonstop action. Taking the role of Nolan Daneworth, the hero will find himself battling as a part of an elite crew to avenge his fallen fiancé.
Excerpt: Superbike racing is one of the lesser known sports for the most part. However, the Isle of Man TT is infamous for high speed thrills at breakneck speeds with over 37 miles of pavement designated for racing.
Conclusion: Overall B.O.S struggles to find its place in this most over-crowded of genres. With other games like Half Life 2, Doom 3 and now Quake 4 on the shelf next to it there’s nothing here that stands out at all. But if you’re a FPS nut who’s tried the best, now try the rest.
Pros: Looks nice enough, Interesting betting system
